4 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder/designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo is out of the starting nine Thursday against San Diego and right-hander Dinelson Lamet. Choo is dealing with calf soreness, allowing Nick Solak to slide into the leadoff spot with Scott Heineman getting the start in the outfield. While Choo has produced just a .366 SLG through his first 21 games, that sits far below his .538 xSLG. With his defensive metrics cratering, in addition to a possible calf ailment, expect to see Choo utilized in the DH role more prominently moving forward. His next chance to get back in the lineup comes Friday against the Mariners and left-hander Nick Margevicius.--Jesse Borek
