Clint Capela Unlikely To Play In Wednesday’s Season Opener
4 years agoAtlanta Hawks center Clint Capela (Achilles) is listed as doubtful to play Wednesday versus the Bulls as he continues to battle Achilles soreness. The Hawks are set to be fraughtfully thin at the center spot if Capela cannot play with Onyeka Okongwu (foot) listed as out, leaving Bruno Fernando to draw a likely start at center, unless John Collins slides over for a small-ball version of the team's lineup. Capela was dealt to the Hawks last season but was kept from getting on the floor due to injury. When healthy, he remains a perpetual double-double threat while also garnering appeal due to his shot blocking ability. Barring a last-minute improvement, his best chance at making his season (and team) debut comes Saturday against the Grizzlies.
