4 years agoPortland Trail Blazers point/shooting guard Anfernee Simons (hamstring) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game versus Utah. Simons serves as Damian Lillard's primary backup, which could allow for the Blazers' All-Pro to absorb an additional handful of minutes. Despite his increased usage last year, Simons still averaged just 1.4 assists across 20.7 minutes per game. With Lillard and C.J. McCollum dominating minutes in the backcourt, Simons has a muddled path to season-long relevance to begin the year, even when healthy. His next chance to make his season debut comes Saturday against Houston, but that game is up in the air due to COVID-19 testing issues within the Rockets' organization.--Jesse Borek
