Ja Morant Faces 3-5-Week Absence Due To Ankle Injury
4 years agoMemphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant (ankle) will be sidelined for the next three to five weeks due to the Grade 2 left ankle sprain that he sustained in Monday's win over the Nets. After having been wheeled to the locker room, the fact that Morant avoided an even more serious injury is cause for optimism. Tyus Jones figures to step in as the Grizzlies starter at point guard and has averaged 10.1 points and 6.6 assists per game during his 40 career starts. Expect Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson, Jonas Valanciunas and others to see increased offensive usage without Morant in the mix. One of the league's premier rising stars, Morant should be held onto in all season-long formats until he can return.
