EPL DFS Lineup Picks for FanDuel (1/4/21) - English Premier League Soccer

Welcome back, RotoBallers! This is the final EPL game for eight days with the league taking a one week break in order for the teams to play FA Cup matches. It is just a single game slate, but I have another full breakdown for you all. Keep reading this breakdown for my DFS soccer picks on RotoBaller and see how to have success on Monday's slate.

The very large majority of my DFS content will be EPL-related, however, there is more soccer than just what is being played in England. If you want to chop it up with myself and other RotoBaller writers about non-EPL leagues or other sports, consider becoming a premium member and joining our ever-growing community of DFS and fantasy sports enthusiasts!

In this article, I will be providing you with my English Premier League daily fantasy soccer lineup picks for FanDuel on 1/4/21 for the slate that locks at 3:00 pm ET. Be sure to also check out our other DFS lineup picks for other active sports. You can always find me on Twitter @vdray5 if you have any questions. Good luck, RotoBallers!

EPL DFS Lineup Picks - Overview

Southampton vs Liverpool

The final game of Matchday 17 has Southampton hosting Liverpool (-160) who sit level with Manchester United on points atop the league table. Liverpool followed up their 7-0 blasting of Crystal Palace with two disappointing draws against West Brom and Newcastle. They are in first place right now, but they continue to struggle with their away form with just two road wins in eight games. Southampton are falling down the table recently with just one win (against Sheffield) in their last five games. They will provide good resistance for Liverpool here at home. The goal total over/under is 3.0.

FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders

The day Mo Salah ($16) is not a viable captain option on a single game slate is the day pigs fly. Salah leads the league in goals this year with 13, and he also has three assists. He has the best anytime scoring odds in this game at -165. He is in a slight goal slump, though, having not scored in two games, so Sadio Mane ($15) makes sense as a pivot off of a chalky Salah. He will be less owned in the captain spot - and in general - and is in good form with two goals in three games. He also has nice anytime scoring odds at -125. Liverpool have not been playing that well on the road, so I don't see a need to jam in both Salah and Mane here especially with their price tags.

Part of why Liverpool is struggling some on the road right now is due to some poor defense. They are allowing 1.5 goals per game on the road which definitely makes some Southampton attackers very intriguing plays. Danny Ings ($13) is Southampton's best scorer and is a good pivot off Liverpool attackers. He is +135 to score on Monday against his former club. James Ward-Prowse ($14) is a little expensive here but a solid GPP candidate nonetheless. Theo Walcott ($11) can provide some attacking value for Southampton, and Oriol Romeu ($7) should be able to collect a good amount of defensive stats in this game.

Whoever starts between James Milner ($7) and Thiago ($4) are strong value plays on this slate.

FanDuel DFS Defenders

Southampton will be without one of their top defenders Jannik Vestergaard ($9) for a few weeks, which should get Jack Stephens ($5) into the starting lineup again. He has now started two straight games and is averaging 20.8 fantasy points in those games. He is an awesome value play on Monday, and I expect him to be chalky as people realize that. Kyle Walker-Peters ($7) is a nice way to get exposure to this good matchup without eating the Stephens chalk. He has gotten great peripherals all year and should thrive in this matchup.

If you're looking for a Liverpool defender, there should be at least one cheap guy starting between Nat Phillips ($4) or Rhys Williams ($5). Both are nice value plays on this slate.

Thanks for reading my EPL DFS lineup picks breakdown on RotoBaller and good luck!
