4 years agoPhiladelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was given Eastern Conference Player of the Month honors Tuesday, rewarding him for a stretch of play through December/January that was nothing short of dominant. Despite having missed five games due to injury, Embiid averaged 28.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, shooting 54.4 percent overall, including 40.4 percent from behind the arc. Embiid closed the month on an offensive flurry, averaging 35.6 PPG over his final five contests. He is set to return to action Wednesday against Charlotte, eyeing a second straight month of dominance that would likely keep him firmly entrenched in the MVP conversation.--Jesse Borek
