Dennis Smith Jr. Cleared To Make Pistons Debut Thursday
4 years agoDetroit Pistons point guard Dennis Smith Jr. has been given the green light to take the floor for Thursday's game versus the Pacers, which will mark his team debut. Smith was acquired in the deal that sent Derrick Rose to the Knicks, giving the fourth-year guard an opportunity at playing time that he was unlikely to receive in New York. Having played just 28 minutes all season, head coach Dwane Casey noted that Smith likely won't see a hefty minutes allotment, but with Killian Hayes (hip) down, Detroit can use all the guard help that they can get. Having averaged 15.2 points and 5.2 assists with Dallas as a rookie in 2017-18, Smith is certainly a name to keep an eye on as the season progresses for a Pistons team that is clearly in rebuild mode.
