4 years agoColorado Rockies RHP German Marquez took a no-decision in Thursday's Opening Day win over the Los Angeles Dodgers when he allowed one run on six hits while walking six and striking out two over four innings. To say Marquez got lucky on Thursday would be an understatement. He surrendered six hits while issuing six free passes but only gave up one run to baseball's best lineup. He basically gave up a two-run home run to Cody Bellinger in the top of the third inning but Justin Turner, who was on first base, assumed that left fielder Raimel Tapia was going to make the catch so he ran back towards the bag. Bellinger ended up running past Turner as the ball bounced off Tapia's glove and over the fence. As a result, Bellinger was ruled out and awarded just an RBI single for his effort. Marquez only threw 51-of-92 pitches for strikes so it wasn't an efficient outing. Most fantasy managers probably benched him for this difficult start but he should have a better time on the mound against the Diamondbacks next week.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
