Steven Matz Strikes Out Nine in Jays Debut
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays pitcher Steven Matz dominated the Texas Rangers during his club's 6-2 victory on Monday. Along with his K-BB of 9-1, the lefty allowed just two hits and one run. He also showed impressive durability and threw 91 pitches over the 6.1 innings of work. Matz was acquired from the New York Mets during the offseason in what was essentially a salary dump by the National League team. He's coming off a terrible season that saw him post a 9.68 ERA and allow 14 home runs in just 30.2 innings of work. Prior to last season, Matz had some solid seasons with the Mets. He also had a very strong spring performance.
