4 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Trevor Williams performed well in his Cubs debut on Monday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Williams retired the first 15 batters he faced and worked into the seventh inning before walking Christian Yelich and a single to Avisail Garcia. Williams was then pulled and reliever Jason Adam allowed a three-run home run to Brewers catcher Omar Narvaez. Williams would finish with a final line of six innings and allowed two hits, two runs, two walks and struck out six on the evening. Williams struggled the last two seasons with a 5.38 and 6.18 ERA, but had a 3.11 ERA in 2018 over 31 starts. The Cubs are hoping that they can turn Williams back to his 2018 form and Monday was a good start. Williams has never averaged more than 8 K/9 in a season, so he is limited there. Williams will look to keep it going against a weak Pirates lineup on Sunday and should be considered as a streamer in that matchup.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
