Hitter Streamers for 4/12 - Shallow Leagues
Joey Wendle (2B/3B/SS, LHB, TB) - 36% Rostered
Matchup: @ KC LHP Danny Duffy
Joey Wendle is scorching hot right now, going 13-for-34 (.382) with eight runs, two home runs, and six RBI in his last nine games. He's hit anywhere from third to seventh in this Rays lineup, which bodes well for his run production. While he's facing a tough lefty in Danny Duffy, this is a bet on a hot bat. We also have to consider that it's unlikely that we'll see Duffy pitch past the sixth inning. Ride the hot streak with Wendle.
Zach McKinstry (OF, LHB, LAD) - 34% Rostered
Matchup: @ SEA LHP Justus Sheffield
Zach McKinstry is the latest Dodger to come out of nowhere to put up solid production, slashing .319/.353/.617 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 51 plate appearances. McKinstry began in the nine spot, but his hot bat has bumped him up to sixth or seventh in this loaded Dodgers lineup. Like Wendle, he faces a lefty in Justus Sheffield, who also is unlikely to pitch deep into this game. Ride another hot bat with McKinstry.
Evan Longoria (3B, RHB, SF) - 30% Rostered
Matchup: @ PHI RHP Chase Anderson
Evan Longoria has been hitting the ball hard so far, posting strong grades in average exit velocity (96th-percentile), hard-hit percentage (99th-percentile), xwOBA (92nd-percentile), and xSLG (94th-percentile). He's also increased his launch angle from 10.7 degrees to 17.1 degrees. He has a great chance to keep it going against righty Chase Anderson, who has given up two home runs in nine innings so far. Go with Longoria in a hitter's park in Philly.
Manuel Margot (OF, RHB, TB) - 21% Rostered
Matchup: @ KC LHP Danny Duffy
Manuel Margot has started to pick it up lately, hitting safely in four of his last five games and totaling one home run and two stolen bases during that span. He's posted a career 107 wRC+ and .159 ISO against lefties, compared to a 78 wRC+ and .136 ISO against righties, so this is a good matchup for him. Margot has hit anywhere from three to six in this Rays lineup. I'd bet on him hitting in the heart of the order against a lefty in Duffy.
Hitter Streamers for 4/12 - Deep Leagues
Brandon Belt (1B/OF, LHB, SF) - 9% Rostered
Matchup: @ PHI RHP Chase Anderson
Brandon Belt is another Giant to stack against Anderson in the bandbox that is Citizens Bank Park. Belt is starting to get going at the plate, hitting three extra-base hits (one home run) with two walks and zero strikeouts in his last three games. He's posted a career 120 wRC+ and .209 ISO when facing a righty on the road, so this is a great matchup for him. Belt hits in the three or cleanup spot for the Giants, so he's a great stream for Monday.
Avisail Garcia (OF, RHB, MIL) - 9% Rostered
Avisail Garcia came into camp in great shape and that has translated to the season so far, as he's slashed .269/.316/.481 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 57 plate appearances. He's also posted a .438 xwOBA, which ranks in the 90th-percentile. Garcia is in tougher matchup against righty Joe Musgrove, but this is a bet on talent over matchup. This is a hitter who has been a fixture in the three or cleanup spot for the Brewers.
Matchup: at SD RHP Joe Musgrove
Jackie Bradley Jr. (OF, LHB, MIL) - 8% Rostered
Matchup: at SD RHP Joe Musgrove
Jackie Bradley Jr. has been swinging the bat well lately, going 11-for-33 (.333) with six runs and one stolen base in his last eight games. Bradley has posted a career .190 ISO against righties, compared to a .133 ISO against lefties, which bodes well in his matchup against Musgrove. This is a tough pitcher on the mound, but Bradley is locked into the leadoff spot and you won't find a hitter like that at this rostered percentage on your waiver wire.
Matt Carpenter (2B/3B, LHB, STL) - 1% Rostered
Matchup: at WAS RHP Joe Ross
Matt Carpenter has poor surface stats, slashing .069/.200/.172 with one home run and three RBI, but if we dig under the hood we see a hitter making hard contact. Carpenter is posting elite grades in average exit velocity (96th-percentile), barrel percentage (100th-percentile), hard-hit percentage (98th-percentile) and xSLG (92nd-percentile). He's also increased his launch angle from 17.1 degrees to 24.1 degrees. Fire him up against righty Joe Ross.
Pitcher Streamers for 4/12 - Shallow Leagues
Danny Duffy (LHP, KC) - 23% Rostered
Matchup: vs. TB
Danny Duffy has gotten off to a terrific start so far, going 12 innings, allowing one run on 10 hits while walking four and striking out 11. His fastball velocity is up from 92.2 MPH to 93.9 MPH, which has made it a much more effective pitch (.227 wOBA allowed). While the Rays are tough against lefties (124 wRC+, 7th), they do strike out a lot (28.8 K%, 24th). If the uptick in velocity sticks, Duffy has a chance to remain on your roster beyond this matchup.
Pitcher Streamers for 4/12 - Deep Leagues
Joe Ross (RHP, WAS) - 17% Rostered
Matchup: vs. STL
Joe Ross is pitching well so far. He has yet to allow a run in 11 innings while giving up only six hits and three walks with nine strikeouts. Hitters are having a tough time generating hard contact, as Ross has posted 88th-percentile hard-hit percentage and 85th-percentile xwOBA. Ross has changed his pitch mix, decreasing his fastball usage (24.9% to 14.1%) and increasing his slider usage (20.7% to 31.4%). The Cardinals have scored two runs or less in three of their last four games.
