Matt Ryan, QB Falcons
Age: 36
Movement: Rising
Previous Rank QB27
Updated Rank QB22
In February, we moved Matt Ryan down the dynasty startup rankings. But, with stud rookie TE Kyle Pitts now in the fold, we’ll be sticking with Matt Ryan for the next couple of seasons and feel pretty good about it. “Matty Ice” has been thrust back into QB2 range for dynasty purposes. And, even at this new rank- all of the downside is baked in. If you are playing the waiting game at QB in your Superflex dynasty startup league, Matt Ryan is a rock-solid pick in the seventh round.
Derrick Henry, RB Titans
Age: 27
Movement: Falling
Previous Rank RB8
Updated Rank RB12
Henry profiles as an obvious sell in dynasty. He is 27 years old coming off multiple seasons with a massive workload, including NFL playoff carries. RosterWatch agrees that Derrick Henry is a different type of player, as far as durability. He has had amazing positive injury luck. He rarely shows up on the midweek reports as questionable.
Rosterwatch still loves Henry, we will have him as a top-five RB in our redraft rankings. Betting on Henry as a dynasty player when other, younger, productive RBs are available may not be optimal. Derrick Henry should still get drafted in the top 30 picks in Superflex dynasty startup leagues. His slight move down the rankings is strictly a dynasty league move. We prefer Antonio Gibson, J.K. Dobbins, and Aaron Jones over him currently.
Josh Jacobs, RB Raiders
Age: 23
Movement: Falling
Previous Rank RB19
Updated Rank RB23
The dynasty market has cooled on Josh Jacobs. Jacobs finished as the RB10 last year, but battled injuries, and did not improve in the passing game as expected. The Raiders signed and paid Kenyan Drake to join Jacobs in the RB room. The perception that Drake will steal pass-catching work from Jacobs is an odd narrative, since Josh Jacobs has averaged only 26 receptions over his first two seasons.
The reason for Jacobs' ranking decline is due to the incoming rookies. We anticipate ranking at least three over him in the coming weeks. Jacobs' fall does not indicate RosterWatch is “out” on him. Jacobs is starting to be a value pick at his current fourth-round ADP.
