4 years agoNew York Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres was cleared to return by the MLB/MLBPA joint committee, per manager Aaron Boone. Torres is currently on his way to Texas and could be activated as soon as Wednesday. The Yankees were fortunate that the 24-year-old was asymptomatic, which ultimately allowed him to return sooner than the 10 days normally required for a stint on the COVID-19 injured list. Torres is poised to be back in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers. He owns just a .625 OPS with one home run in 33 games played this season.--Tim Capurso
