4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery didn't factor into the decision in a shaky start on Thursday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Montgomery lasted just 4 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits with two walks and one strikeout. The southpaw worked 1-2-3 frames in his first two innings before running into trouble in the third inning, where he surrendered a three-run homer to Bo Bichette. After striking out a career-high 11 batters in his last outing, Montgomery took a step backward in that department, fanning just one batter while registering five whiffs. He was pulled one out shy of qualifying for the win at 73 pitches. Montgomery will look to fare better in his third start of the year against the Tampa Bay Rays on June 2 after allowing four runs in each of his first two meetings against them.--Tim Capurso
