Steven Matz Allows Two Earned Runs In No-Decision
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Steven Matz allowed four runs (two earned) through five innings pitched in Sunday's second game of a doubleheader versus the Indians. The left-hander was handed a 4-0 lead as he entered the bottom of the sixth, but he failed to record an out in the inning before handing the ball to Tyler Chatwood who allowed two of his inherited runners to come around and score. Matz didn't walk a batter and struck out four in the outing and now holds a 4.22 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with six wins through 11 starts. He's backed behind a dangerous offense, but his starts can be unpredictable most of time so managers would be taking a small risk by starting him versus the Astros next weekend.
