3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Steven Matz returned to the mound for the first time since landing on the COVID-19 injured list on June 13, and there was certainly some rust to shake off in Wednesday's tilt versus the Mariners. He started off strong by retiring six of the first seven batters he faced, but the wheels came off in the third inning when he allowed four runs before exiting with two outs recorded in the frame. The left-hander finished the game with three strikeouts to no walks and five hits allowed, pushing his ERA to 4.60 and his WHIP to 1.37. Matz has been difficult to trust as a fantasy option with his unpredictability from outing to outing, so managers would be taking a small risk by playing him versus the Orioles next week.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
