Lou Trivino Ends First Half With Save Over Rangers
3 years agoOakland Athletics relief pitcher Lou Trivino pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 14th save of the season Sunday at Texas. Trivino allowed a walk and a hit to bring the tying run to the plate, but induced a game-ending fly ball off the bat of Jonah Heim to preserve the win for the A's. Trivino finished the first half with a pristine 1.84 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts across 44 innings. His strikeout rate (23%) and walk rate (12%) prevent Trivino from being in the elite tier of closers, but he's getting the bulk of the save chances for Oakland and should be rostered in any fantasy league that rewards saves.
