3 years agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Wisler allowed two hits while striking out one over a scoreless inning to earn the save during Sunday's 3-2 win over the Red Sox. He entered the game in the ninth inning and retired 3-of-5 batters faced to earn his first career save. The Rays turned to Wisler and not Andrew Kittredge for Tampa Bay's first save opportunity since trading incumbent closer Diego Castillo to the Seattle Mariners. Nick Anderson (elbow) and Pete Fairbanks (shoulder) are currently on the injured list but are expected to return in the next few weeks. Tampa Bay will use a closer by committee approach until Fairbanks or Anderson are able to return, but fantasy managers desperate for saves can add Wisler in the short term. The 28-year-old owns a 3.80 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 55 strikeouts over 42 2/3 innings in 2021.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
