3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez took the loss on Thursday when he allowed seven runs on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts over four innings in a 7-0 loss to the Giants. Marquez really had just one bad inning on Thursday. He allowed a single run in the second before completely melting down in the fourth. He coughed up an RBI double to Curt Casali, a two-run single to Logan Webb, and a three-run homer to LaMonte Wade Jr. all in the same inning. The Rockies were shut out so the seven earned runs were more than enough to give Marquez the loss. He now owns a 3.77 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 147:51 K/BB ratio over 140 2/3 innings (24 starts). He had recorded two straight quality starts prior to Thursday so he'll look to bounce back in his next turn against the Padres at home.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
