3 years agoPortland Trail Blazers small forward Norman Powell (hip) was unable to suit up for Wednesday's practice session as he continues to work through a hip injury that forced him from Monday's preseason opener. Powell is coming off a sustained breakout campaign last year in which he averaged a career-high 18.6 PPG, although his offensive efficiency dipped after joining the Blazers for the stretch run of the year. Hip ailments can be notoriously finicky, and they are especially concerning for Powell, who has not hit the 70-game plateau since the 2017-18 campaign. Portland has depth on the wing to cover for Powell for the time being, but his status will be one to monitor heading into season-long drafts.--Jesse Borek
