Brooklyn Trades For Edmond Sumner, Then Waives Him
3 years agoPoint/shooting guard Edmond Sumner (Achilles) was dealt from the Indiana Pacers to the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, but he was ultimately waived in a cost-cutting move for the franchise. Sumner was announced to be out indefinitely with a torn Achilles tendon back in September, ruling him out for the entirety of the 2021-22 season. Indiana chose to move Sumner and sign veteran Brad Wanamaker to fill his roster spot. Sumner had begun to come into his own last year, starting a career-high 24 games for the Pacers en route to averaging 7.5 points per game. For now, the 25-year-old remains a free agent with a return ETA of late 2022/early 2023.
