All eight of the MLB teams still alive play today, so that gives us a rather nice four-game slate on FanDuel today into tonight. The Braves, White Sox, Dodgers, and Red Sox are all at home on this one. The Rays and White Sox are both facing elimination already.
It's going to be a great day for baseball in Atlanta. There is a stiff wind blowing in from right in Chicago, so that could hurt some left-handed power in that game. That makes Chicago a nice pitcher's haven today. The wind is also blowing in at Dodger Stadium, which should help Mad Max.
I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 10/11/2021. FanDuel DFS Pitchers
Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:
Max Scherzer – SF at LAD ($9,900)
You almost have to use Scherzer in cash. He had a couple of rough games at the end of the season and looked solid in the Wild Card game against the Cardinals. None of those three outings are what we have come to expect from Max. Still, no one can match the strikeout upside of Scherzer. If he goes six innings, no one else will outscore him due to the strikeouts. I view Max as the safest play for cash, but I think we can do better in larger field GPP formats.
Potential Alternate Play
Carlos Rodon – CWS vs. HOU ($8,600)
Rodon was brilliant this season, posting a 2.42 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. His splits are remarkably consistent and so was nearly every outing from him this season. He was a special kind of tough on the Astros this year. Rodon only allowed one run in 14 innings while striking out 18 and only allowing four hits! That kind of score can break a slate in a GPP and Rodon hasn't provided the inconsistency of Scherzer down the stretch. He's a perfect pivot here.

FanDuel DFS Infielders
Yandy Diaz – 1B/3B, TB at BOS ($2,900)
Diaz has a hit in all three games of the series so far and is 7-for-17 lifetime against Eduardo Rodriguez. Surprisingly, Yandy has no counting stats, but considering his track record against lefties, Rodriguez in particular, and against the Red Sox this year, I like the bargain here since I'm not crazy about any other first basemen on the slate. If I have the money, I'll pay up for Jose Abreu, but I like the OF bats I can get by paying down to Diaz.
Tommy LaStella – 2B/3B, SF at LAD ($2,300)
LaStella has been leading off for the Giants of late and it has gone quite well. Using him against Max may seem like a bad idea, but we all know that even when Scherzer is at his best, he still allows home runs. LaStella may not seem like the best pick to get into one, but he is 4-for-10 in his career against Scherzer. All of the hits have gone for extra bases, including one home run. I like those odds.
Justin Turner – 3B, LAD vs. SF ($3,200)
Turner homered in Game 1, but has gone 0-fer in the last two games. I'll go back to the well tonight against Alex Wood. Turner has hit two homers off of him in his career. Wood had a nice season overall, but his ERA was an even 4.00 after the break. There is lots of potential here with all of the right-handed hitters that the Dodgers can throw at Wood.
Brandon Crawford – SS, SF at LAD ($3,100)
I don't usually make a habit of going after guys like Scherzer, but on a small slate like this with Scherzer likely being highly owned, I'll do it more often. This is especially true when we have a guy that hits Max like Crawford does. Crawford is 7-for-17 lifetime against Scherzer with a pair of homers, four runs scored, and five RBI. Even if Scherzer piles up the strikeouts, he often gives up home runs. One from a guy like Crawford can help set your lineup apart.
FanDuel DFS Outfielders
Randy Arozarena – OF, TB at BOS ($3,900)
This dude lives for the playoffs. Arozarena is a career .356 hitter in 27 postseason games with 11 home runs. He is up to his old tricks in this series as well with two hits, including a homer, a steal, and four runs already. He is also 4-for-11 lifetime against Eduardo Rodriguez in his career. Even though Arozarena is the highest-priced outfielder on the slate, he still feels like a bargain.
Kyle Schwarber – OF, BOS vs. TB ($3,400)
Schwarber hit an incredible 128 points higher in Fenway this season than anywhere else. Add in to that the fact that he blasted the Rays for a .342 average and a couple of homers (not to mention his only stolen base of the season) in ten games against them this year and he feels like a bargain. The Red Sox have been known to do unorthodox things like use Schwarber as the leadoff hitter. That gives him even more value if he's there tonight.
A.J. Pollock – OF, LAD vs. SF ($2,800)
Pollock isn't the only Dodger to hit Alex Wood hard, but he might just be the cheapest. Pollock is 10-for-25 in his career against Wood with two homers two steals, three RBI, and five runs scored. He picked up a pair of RBI in Saturday. I'd say that Pollock is a good bet to come through against Wood here as well.
