NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 1/11/22
COVID is starting to die down and players are starting to return from injuries. Thanks to this, we will start to lose our loaded value pool and it will make it trickier finding that one player to win it all. However, we will continue to navigate this wonderful sport on ice with eight games starting at 7 p.m. EST with many teams in prime matchups.
We will only have one team on a back-to-back, Colorado, after their game against Seattle last night. The Blue Jackets enter with the league's fifth-worst goals against (3.5) hosting the sleeping Blackhawks, while the Panthers will pounce on the Canucks with their league’s second-best goals for (3.82).
DISCLOSURE: The slate may not be the same at puck drop as it is during the writeup due to COVID-19. Make sure to monitor the news feed and play at your own risk.
NHL DFS Goalies
Andre Vasilevskiy- DK $8.5K || FD $8.6K
Opponent - Philadelphia Flyers
The Sabres are back to poor form and they have lost their last four matches. They have also conceded an average of 3.0 goals per game in that frame while scoring an average of 1.5 goals per game. They will be without a few players in this meeting with the Lightning, making it much easier for Vasilevskiy to possibly record a shutout. Tampa Bay is on a different level with Kucherov back and Big Vas will look to take advantage.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Bobrovsky(DK $8.4K || FD $8.5K), Hill(DK $8.1K || FD $7.2K), Jarry(DK $8K || FD $8.1K), Korpisalo(DK $7.9K || FD $7K)
NHL DFS Centers
Tomas Hertl-DK $6.7K || FD $6.8K
Opponent - Detroit Red Wings
Hertl continues to show his dominance without Shark’s captain Logan Couture. In his absence, the second-line pivot, now first, has put together a 4-3-7 line with 11.0 shots. He is also coming off his fifth career hat trick and the Red Wings may be without star Dylan Larkin.
Boone Jenner- DK $5.5K || FD $5.4K
Opponent - Chicago Blackhawks
We once again find ourselves picking on the lowly Blackhawks with top-pivot Boone Jenner of the Blue Jackets. The veteran is relentless when it comes to his game and he provides one of the better two-way games for an undervalued center. He also has a 2-1-3 line along with 17.0 shots and 6.0 blocked shots over his last five appearances. Now that he is reunited with winger Patrik Laine, Jenner is starting to find his form again.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Matthews(DK $8.7K || FD $10.2K), Point(DK $7.3K || FD $7.8K), Malkin(DK $5K || FD $5.9K), Suter(DK $4.3K || FD $5.4K), Cirelli(DK $4.1K || FD $5.2K)
NHL DFS Wings
Nikita Kucherov- DK $6.8K || FD $8.4K
Opponent - Buffalo Sabres
Kucherov? With a salary below $7K? Is this a dream? This is certainly real life and we are here to take advantage of this criminally salaried superstar. Kucherov has a 0-2-2 line with 8.0 shots in his two games back. Now he gets to go against a COVID-19 riddled Sabres team who is extremely out of form. This is a no-brainer.
Kasperi Kapanen- DK $3.5K || FD $4.5K
Opponent - Anaheim Ducks
Unfortunately, our original cheap winger was Seth Jarvis, but we had to swap after the game was postponed. Now we have Kapanen for $1K more and he gets to play with one of Crosby, Malkin or Carter during tomorrow's meeting with the Ducks. Kapanen continues to struggle and disappoint with inconsistent play, however, he has always thrived when playing in the top-six. All that is needed is a puck bounce or two and we have value.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Meier(DK $8.2K || FD $9.9K), Huberdeau(DK $7.1K || FD $9.9K), Kane(DK $7K || FD $8.7K), Stamkos(DK $6.5K || FD $8.4K) Laine(DK $5.3K || FD $6.3K), Barbanov(DK $3.8K || FD $4.7K), Jeannot(DK $3.1K || FD $4.7K)
NHL DFS Defensemen
Zach Werenski- DK $6.2K || FD $5.8K
Opponent - Chicago Blackhawks
Werenski made his long-awaited return a few nights ago with 2.0 shots and 2.0 blocked shots against the New Jersey Devils. Now that he is somewhat accustomed to game speed again, he gets the defenseless Blackhawks. Chicago currently sits at 7th in the league with a 3.36 goals against. Werenski will hope to jump right back into the point column here. In the five games prior to his absence, he possessed a 1-2-3 line with 19.0 shots and 4.0 blocked shots.
Brandon Montour- DK $3.1K || FD $4.3K
Opponent - Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks have done a complete 180 since Boudreau’s hiring. However, they still continue to have inconsistencies here and there. This is something that they cannot afford against a prowling Panthers team. For minimal salary, we get Montour who sits on the second-pairing and the second power-play. Over his last five appearances, he has a 0-4-4 line along with 8.0 shots and 3.0 blocked shots.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Hedman(DK $7K || FD $7K), Jones(DK $6.6K || FD $6.3K), Burns(DK $6.3K || FD $6.3K), Reilly(DK $5.9K || FD $6.7K), Johnson(DK $3.8K || FD $5K), Ferraro(DK $3.9K || FD $4.4K)
