ANALYSIS: The talk regarding Detroit's backfield during the offseason was focused on its two prime assets: Kerryon Johnson and rookie D'Andre Swift. Even after adding uber-veteran Adrian Peterson from Washington in time for the start of the season, it never made much sense to think of AP as the no. 1 rusher of Detroit... until the ball was kicked off and things took a 180-degree turn.

Not only did Peterson play as Detroit's no. 1 rusher, but he doubled the number of carries of the Lions no. 2 RB this past Sunday with 14 to Kerryon's seven. Good for Peterson truthers, though, he excelled with such volume of opportunities racking up 93 yards for an average of 6.6 YPC and he just lacked a touchdown (Swift scored one in his three attempts). The day didn't end there for AP, who also caught three-of-three targets for 21 yards beating both Kerryon (not used in the passing game) and Swift (15 yards on three-of-five receptions).

Peterson is probably not an average 14.4 PPR-player these days, but if this is how Detroit plans to use you better be jumping all over him in the next round of waivers. The veteran averaged 10.1 fantasy points per game last year, and although he might not be an RB1 any more he still carries a ton of upside in a pretty good and loaded offense as the Lions one is.
