Tyler Chatwood Continues To Have Control Issues

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood walked seven batters Thursday. Over 4 2/3 innings, Chatwood allowed four hits and struck out six all while allowing only one run. Chatwood is now walking 8.64 batters per nine innings and should remain on the waiver wire until he can control his walks.

Addison Russell Takes Batting Practice Prior To Thursday’s Game

Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell (finger) took part in batting practice Thursday and also was on the field taking grounders. Russell has been absent since leaving Sunday’s game with a middle finger injury and remains day-to-day with a chance to play this weekend versus the Pirates.

Tim Anderson Will Sit Out Thursday Afternoon Versus The Twins

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson will rest Thursday versus the Twins. Anderson is having a nice season with 11 home runs, 25 RBI and 13 stolen bases to go along with a .242 batting average. Jose Rondon will replace Anderson in the lineup and bat seventh. Rondon can be avoided Thursday.
