Bundesliga DFS Lineup Picks - Overview

Werder Bremen vs Eintracht Frankfurt

This is an interesting matchup here on Wednesday. Frankfurt (+150) will travel to Bremen to take on Werder Bremen as minuscule favorites. Werder Bremen have been unrecognizable since play resumed. They still sit in 17th place, but their recent form is good (LDWW). They are Bundesliga's worst home team this season points-wise. Coincidentally, Frankfurt are the worst away team points-wise. Their form (LLDW) isn't very impressive. Both teams bleed goals in their respective environments, but they also both struggle to score, which leaves the goal total over/under right at 2.5.

Normally on a showdown slate, it makes sense to stack one team. However, with a pretty even matchup here on paper, you can separate yourself with a lopsided lineup as many will opt for balance on Wednesday.

The remainder of this breakdown will continue in a team-by-team fashion.

Eintracht Frankfurt

Frankfurt attackers will - as a whole - be more attractive fantasy plays than those on Werder Bremen. That is simply because they do more attacking and score more goals than Werder Bremen. They score 1.64 goals per game on the road, and sure that average drops to only 1.07 when playing on the road, but they are facing the league's third-worst defense. It is worth noting though that Werder Bremen have kept three consecutive clean sheets, so going all in on Frankfurt on the road seems unwise.

Andre Silva ($15) has the best odds to score in this match out of any Frankfurt starter. Silva has 7 goals in his 11 starts this season. He also leads the team in xG, xA, and SOT/90. Silva's form is great too with three goals in four games. He's in a solid spot to add to his bright run in this game. Filip Kostic ($14) is another priority play here for Frankfurt. He has established a decent fantasy floor with crosses and defensive peripherals. Plus, he has real goal upside with four to his name this season and +250 anytime scoring odds.

Daichi Kamada ($12) is overpriced after scoring two consecutive goals - his first two of the season - and it does not appear as if Bas Dost ($11) will be starting. Sebastian Rode ($8) makes for a great mid-tier/value play for any lineup. He has not scored less than 10 points in any game since league play returned.

With the leakiness of both defenses, it is likely that both teams will score, so there is no reason to chase a clean sheet bonus from a defender in this game. Frankfurt have done some rotating of their defense recently which makes it difficult to say for sure who will be out there to start the game on Wednesday. Martin Hinterregger ($9) is essentially a lock, but that's a high price to pay for him. Makoto Hasebe ($8) has not been collecting peripherals well lately, and there is no reason to pay for him when at least one of David Abraham ($6), Evan N'dicka ($5), and Almamy Toure ($5) will get a start. Toure would be the best value play of the bunch, but Abraham is viable if he starts. Overall, Werder Bremen defenders should fare better than Frankfurt in this game.

Werder Bremen

Both Leonardo Bittencourt ($14) and Milot Rashica ($12) appear to be fit enough to start this game after suffering minor injuries last weekend. Rashica still leads the squad in both goals and assists with seven and five, respectively. However, it has been Bittencourt who has been more useful lately both in terms of goals and peripheral stats.

American international Josh Sargent ($9) has now started three straight games, and matches Rashica (and Silva) with best anytime scoring odds in this game at +175. Davy Klaassen ($11) has mid-tier appeal as well. He's second on the team this season with four goals and four assists, plus he's been adding in productive defensive peripheral stats recently.

Kevin Vogt ($6) - even if he lines up as a defender again - is well worth consideration as a value play. He started the last game and was great with 15.6 fantasy points (2.6x). The Werder Bremen defense has been accumulating tons of defensive action all season, and that trend should continue in this game.

Niklas Moisander ($9) and Milos Veljkovic ($6) have been great steady DFS defenders over the last few weeks. Moisander has three 18+ point games, and while his price tag has risen, he's still going to be a good play. Veljkovic has averaged 15.5 fantasy points per start since the Bundesliga returned. That's 2.6x value at his current price. He'll be another good fantasy play in this game.

Thanks for reading my DFS Soccer column and good luck in your contests, RotoBallers!
