Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! Welcome back to COD DFS! Welcome back to week three of stage 5. Welcome to the final Major of the year and let's hope we go out with a bang! Today and Tomorrow might be the last COD Slates for us unfortunately but we are going to make the most of it! Last week we saw Seattle Surge sweep for only the third time this season, Atlanta FaZe swept once again, and Dallas pulled off the upset and got themselves the first seed in their group!
This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and I finally get to put all this knowledge to the test! We have a bunch of great matchups going on tomorrow and should be a great day. First things first, we have Seattle Surge taking on Paris Legion, NYSL looks to get a first-round win against the horrid LA Guerrillas, Atlanta FaZe didn't get a first-round bye surprisingly enough and end up with a matchup against Minnesota Rokkr. Lastly, we have Toronto Ultra taking on LA Thieves in what should be the closest matchup of the day!
Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings for Thursday, July 29th, 2021, at 3:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @DFSKoby or find me in the slack as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Major 5
Best of 5
- Seattle Surge (-170) vs. Paris Legion (+130)
- NYSL (-550) vs. LA Guerrillas (+345)
- Atlanta FaZe (-900) vs. Minnesota Rokkr (+500)
- Toronto Ultra (-275) vs. LA Thieves (+200)
Slate Overview
Seattle Surge ended the season with a decisive win over LAG and now look to come into this one and play spoiler now that they are eliminated from contention for Champs. In the last LAN tournament these two faced off and Seattle had a nice sweep over there. I don't think they do that again but I do think they win this match. Octane and Gunless have been elite on LAN and Prestinni and Classic didn't do too bad either. This team is a sleeper and I wouldn't put it past them to make a run. 3-1 Seattle.
NYSL sweep. LAG is awful.
Atlanta FaZe is massive favorites over a surging Minnesota team who played spoiler against Florida and swept them. The prices on Atlanta are insane and if they don't sweep it's not going to make them very optimal unless they are just eating all game modes. Minnesota has a chance in SnD and Control to take a map and I wouldn't put it past them to do so. The safe pick is 3-0 Atlanta, but I think there is a chance that Minnesota can pull out one map.
LA Thieves are one of the most inconsistent teams that I have ever tried to pin down. They go out and reverse sweep Optic but lost to Paris. They also were able to take a map off of FaZe. They now get an elite team in Toronto. I think the best chance for LA Thieves is in SnD to steal a map. Toronto is by far the better team in Hardpoint and Control. I do think this is a 3-1 win by Toronto.
COD DFS Basics
- Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio.
- You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
- Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played are as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
- In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
- They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
- There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20 point player sweep and a 5 point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations
Simp: Good Luck playing him at the captain, but if you do get him there and love your lineup then Simp is an elite play. He is in a great spot and hasn't dropped below 100+ DKP in his last 5 and has only gone under once in his last 12 matches. Those are some insane numbers and he will more than likely be this year's MVP. 10,600 is a hefty price, so pivoting to Abezy or Cellium is definitely a viable option. If you are someone who does Multiple entries then I highly recommend making one with Simp no matter how high his price is. His production is through the roof as he is averaging a 1.20 K/D during the last Majors LAN event, with a 1.33 in hardpoint, a .92 in SnD, and a 1.16 in Control. He is also playing at a high level during stage 5 and I could see that momentum continuing.
Cammy/Insight: I don't think you can really go wrong with either of these players, both played at an insane level during the last LAN event as they both averaged an overall 1.21 K/D with 1.15 K/D or higher in all three game modes. I love this matchup against LA Thieves, as they should come out on top, but even if LA Thieves takes a map here, I think it still could end up being an optimal part of lineups with how well these two perform in hardpoint. I give the edge to Insight as he has had the better Stage 5 overall but Cammy has shown he can show up in big moments and now is the time to go big or go home.
Other captain plays: Abezy, Cellium, Octane, Hydra, Mack, Standy(GPP)
COD DFS Value Plays
Gunless: I was actually really surprised to see the price on Gunless, 7,600$, and is cheaper than his teammate Prestinni? Gunless has been playing extremely well in his last two games of the regular season and while on LAN in Major 4 was playing great as well. So like I said this price doesn't make much sense when he is usually 8k+ in these types of matchups. In their last matchup against Paris in Last Majors LAN, he had 112 DKP in their sweep. During LAN he averaged a 1.02 K/D and a 1.17 K/D in hardpoint, a rough .60 K/D in SnD, and a 1.02 K/D in Control. SnD is not Seattle's best game mode so it makes sense why it is so low. This price combined with the matchup against Paris puts Gunless in a great spot to perform.
DiamondCon: If this was against any other team, he wouldn't be an option here. I prefer any other player on this team as well so if you have the extra salary to get to Asim or Mack, definitely do so. DiamondCon hasn't shown me anything that is worth paying for him but the matchup against LAG is too hard to pass up. This should be a sweep and I anticipate DiamonCon has a better game against these guys rather than his recent games online. If you don't think NYSL sweeps LAG, then definitely don't play Diamond.
Other value plays: Prestinni, Drazah(GPP), Priestahh(GPP), Skrapz
COD DFS Stacks
NYSL: This is the last time we get to attack LAG, and I'm going to take full advantage of it. In Seattle's interview after they swept LA Guerrillas, they said they were just having fun and trolling and were able to sweep them. This LAG team is so bad, this should be another sweep and I think that makes just about any player on the team viable. Mack and Hydra are by far my favorites from NYSL but they are pricey, they have the experience in LAN so far this year as well, as DiamondCon is still subbing in for Clay and Asim wasn't able to play in the last LAN event. I like Asim over DiamondCon, but as a value play, DiamondCon might be necessary to get some of the higher-priced players in.
Other Team Plays: Atlanta(Duh), Toronto, Seattle, LA Thieves (GPP)
Summary
- TLDR: Seattle 3-1, NYSL 3-0, Atlanta 3-0, Toronto 3-1
- Seattle: Octane, Gunless, Prestinni
- Paris: Aqua, Skrapz
- NYSL: All Players
- LAG: Pass
- Atlanta: All Players
- Minnesota: Standy(GPP), Priestahh(GPP)
- Toronto: Cammy, Insight, Bance
- LA Thieves: Slasher(GPP), Drazah(GPP)
