Carlos Rodon joined the major leagues quickly in 2015 after only two starts at AAA. He then pitched 139 innings, going 9-6 and striking out a batter per inning with a 3.75 ERA. The 1.44 WHIP left something to be desired, but his stuff is undeniably real.
Most important to note is how clustered his bad starts were, and a young pitcher experiencing control issues is a common sight. He was streaky and clearly making adjustments along the way. His fastball and wipeout slider give him a great 1-2 punch to work with, and if he can improve his control then he can really take a leap in 2016. Ending 2015 on a high note and having a strong offseason points to Rodon having a great chance for success in 2016.
Pitching in the AL Central isn’t the best environment, but if he reins in the walks a bit he could ride his strikeout arm to a top 30 SP finish (he’s currently the 40th pitcher off the board according to NFBC ADP data).
