Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - Waiver Wire Picks for Wednesday 9/15

We have five afternoon and evening games Wednesday that start off bright and early (by baseball standards) at 1:05pm ET before we move on to 10 night contests. There's an interesting balance of very good pitchers and some questionable arms taking the mound, which gives us enough wiggle room to identify some streaming bats with bright prospects. There are a few hitters with particularly good power upside that are still relatively low-rostered in many leagues and therefore very intriguing candidates to roll out Wednesday.

Hitter Streamers for 9/15 - Shallow Leagues     

Luis Urias (2B/3B/SS, MIL) - 40% rostered            

Matchup: @ DET RHP Matt Manning

Urias is one of those power hitters that's surprisingly widely available, relatively speaking. The slugger typically hits right out of the heart of the potent Milwaukee lineup and boasts a career-high 20 homers. He's also hitting fairly well in September (.289, five XBH, six RBI in 12 games) and has slugged 15 of his round trippers off righties while also generating a .357 wOBA, .224 ISO and .844 OPS against that handedness on the road. Meanwhile, Manning has been more effective at home, but he has worrisome 4.7 K/9 and 3.9 BB/9 figures there and has allowed a .321 average and .365 wOBA to right-handed hitters overall.

Alejandro Kirk (C, TOR) - 27% rostered

Matchup: vs. TAM RHP Michael Wacha

Kirk has carried over his well-earned reputation as an above-average hitting catcher right into the majors, as he boasts a .273 average and .851 OPS across 50 games this season. The 22-year-old should be back in the lineup Wednesday after getting the day off Tuesday and checks in with a .911 OPS at home this season. He's been particularly effective against left-handed hitters, but he's still slugged half of his eight homers off righties and posted a .295 average, .372 wOBA, .883 OPS and .227 ISO against that handedness at home. Meanwhile, Wacha checks in allowing a 6.28 ERA and 1.58 WHIP on the road, along with a 2.2 HR/9. What's more, he's been taken to task by right-handed hitters for a .299 average and 30 XBH, including 14 homers, and a .356 wOBA and 1.7 HR/9 by that handedness on the road specifically.

Amed Rosario (SS/OF, CLE) -53% rostered

Matchup: @ MIN RHP Griffin Jax

Rosario makes for a viable same-handed streaming option to roll out against Jax, who's allowed 11 homers to right-handed hitters and has pitched to a 6.25 ERA and massive 2.6 HR/9 across 31.2 home frames. He's also yielded a .262 average, .867 OPS and .359 wOBA to righty bats overall. Then, while Rosario has been relatively quiet at the plate in September, he's enjoying a rock-solid season overall and has been at his best on the road, where he sports a .281 average and .745 OPS in 274 plate appearances.

Tyler Naquin (OF, CIN) - 44% rostered

Matchup: @ PIT RHP Mitch Keller

Keller has been tortured by left-handed hitters all season, surrendering a .360 average to that handedness, including a .369 average and .407 wOBA to that handedness at PNC Park. That's far from an outlier, as the right-hander has actually yielded a .342 average in opposite-handed matchups since the start of the 2019 season. Naquin has been dealing with a rib bruise but is expected back in the lineup Wednesday, when he'll have a chance at adding to the .283 average, .853 OPS, .360 wOBA, .231 ISO and 18 homers he already owns against right-handed pitching this season.

Hitter Streamers for 9/15- Deeper Leagues

Miguel Rojas (SS, MIA) - 13% rostered

Matchup: @ WAS LHP Josh Rogers

Rojas is always a consideration against left-handed pitching, even when there's a solid southpaw on the mound. That's the case Wednesday, as Rogers has been relatively impressive while forging a 3.65 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over his first two starts. However, he has allowed a .300 average to the 36 right-handed batters he's faced thus far. Meanwhile, Rojas should be in the leadoff spot or very near it again Wednesday and owns a .328 average and .898 OPS versus left-handed pitching, along with a solid .293 average and extremely modest 11.6 percent strikeout rate in 10 September games.

Jake Meyers (OF, HOU) - 8% rostered

Matchup: @ TEX RHP Kohei Arihara

There are precious few Astros that are low-rostered enough to recommend as streaming candidates, but Meyers is one that could pay some nice dividends in his matchup against Arihara on Wednesday. The Rangers right-hander has been better his last two times on the hill but has allowed a .371 average and .547 wOBA to right-handed hitters at home on his way to an abysmal 9.22 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 4.0 HR/9 in a small sample of 13.2 Globe Life Field frames this season. Meyers' impressive rookie campaign includes a .298 average and .829 OPS on the road across 62 plate appearances, along with a .373 wOBA and .200 ISO in same-handed matchups when traveling.

Phil Gosselin (1B/3B, OF, LAA) - 1% rostered        

Matchup: @ CWS LHP Dallas Keuchel

Gosselin has been seeing regular playing time of late and sports a solid .270 average and .324 OBP on the season. The veteran doesn't offer much in the power department, but he's a solid contact hitter and has been a good performer versus left-handed pitching over his career. He's posted a .277 average and .730 OPS against that handedness since the start of the 2019 campaign, and a .279 average and .333 OPS against southpaws on the road this season. For his part, Keuchel has been giving up the long ball all season and has allowed 20 of the 24 homers he's given up to right-handed hitters, along with a .272 BAA and .345 wOBA.

Jose Iglesias (SS, BOS)- 3% rostered

Matchup: @ SEA LHP Marco Gonzales

Iglesias is enjoying his return to the organization that originally drafted him back in 2009, as he owns a .389 average over his first eight games back in Boston. The veteran has been in the lineup regularly despite the return of Xander Bogaerts from the COVID list, and Wednesday, he'll have a chance to augment his already stellar numbers versus Gonzales. Iglesias has punished the southpaw for a .546 average and struck out only once against Gonzales in 11 career encounters, and he sports a .284 average, .752 OPS, .324 wOBA and impressively modest 14.2 strikeout rate against lefties thus far this season. Meanwhile, Gonzales has pitched to a .262 BAA and .364 wOBA versus righty bats and has seen them tag him for 20 of the 25 homers he's allowed on the campaign. Moreover, he's allowed nine of the 12 hits he's yielded over 11 September frames to go for extra bases on his way to a .386 wOBA allowed in that sample.

Pitcher Streamers for 9/15 - Shallow Leagues

Nestor Cortes Jr. (SP, NYY) - 48% rostered      

Matchup:@ BAL LHP John Means

Cortes may only have a 2-2 mark, yet his 2.70 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 9.3 K/9 help speak to how effective he's been overall. The lefty has been at his best at Yankee Stadium, but his 3.50 ERA over 36 road innings is solid as well. He also handled the Orioles effectively when he faced them two starts ago, limiting Baltimore to one run on four hits over 5.2 innings while compiling seven Ks. The O's have been tough on southpaws at home in the second half of the season, but Cortes has allowed more than three earned runs just once all season in 18 appearances (10 starts) and is one of the few quality arms among Wednesday's starters that has a good chance of still being on your waiver wire in shallow leagues.

Pitcher Streamers for 9/15 - Deeper Leagues

Tylor Megill (SP, NYM) - 29% rostered      

Matchup: vs. STL LHP Jon Lester

Megill has experienced some of the typical ups and downs of a young pitcher, but when he's been good, he's been stellar. The hard-throwing right-hander most recently stymied the Yankees for two earned runs over seven innings while racking up 10 strikeouts Friday, and he's also generated a pair of six-inning blankings of the Blue Jays and Pirates while limiting the Giants to one earned run over six frames as well. He draws a relatively tame matchup on paper Wednesday against the Cardinals, which have just a .246 average, .306 wOBA and -2.8 wRAA against righties at home in the last month, along with a 24.6 percent strikeout rate and 90 wRC+. Megill has also been better at home, where he owns a solid 3.80 ERA, 3-1 record and elite 11.0 K/9.
