Welcome to the Friday, September 13th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on September 13th. Enjoy them. - Fantasy Gods, don’t take Shohei Ohtani away from me. Oh, you’re just getting him ready for 2020. Ok. All good.

- Who leads the majors in doubles? Xander Bogaerts & Rafael Devers. 50.
- Gary Sanchez to IL. And you were trying to steal a base, why?
- Nick Senzel is done. We didn't even see the brilliant shine.
- Y’all don’t be listening to me. Nick Solak looked like a beast w/great venues (4th HR). One more series at home before road trip. Take advantage.
- Riddle me this, Jean Segura was on a two SB-a-month plan, but missed Aug. Already has two in Sep.
- Age is creeping up on Edwin Encarnacion. Even w/a grandpa rest plan, he still has 34 smackeroos.
- Where has Luke Voit gone? Making Volleyballs? 20HR, .279AVG = less hype in 2020.
- Domingo German lines up to face another dud offense, this time as a follower. 18th W.
- Six HR in 15 games. Can you imagine if we’d had Aaron Judge for the whole season?
- No Christian Yelich or Keston Hiura, the Brewers lineup looks…ordinary.
- Michael Conforto’s shoulders are so broad. PR keeps rising w/30HR.
- (Jorge) Soler Flares will ignite a movement. 44HR should light a fire amongst leaders. 15.8%BB, 22.1%K in the second half.
- Lucas Giolito loses w/12K. 3.41ERA(3.43FIP). You have to pay to play in 2020.
- Tim Melville, what happened? Wait, What?! 3% owned? Really people? Gluttons for punishment.
- Kolten Wong gets that breakfast combo meal from Whataburger (11HR/22SB). You know the one with chicken covered in honey. Mmmm.
- Harrison Bader w/eighth long ball. But, 86.9mph avg exit velo doesn’t incite potential.
- Marcell Ozuna has earned a solid contract. 27HR(second-best in career) and 12SB(career-best).
- Good ball or naughty ball. Nolan Arenado(39) is good for 40 moonshots.
- Rangel Ravelo with a monstrous Gorilla Strike (487ft) for his second career long ball.
- Who is letting Kyle Schwarber steal bases? NO ONE! He takes what he wants. (2).
- Thank you for four. I guess we shouldn’t have expected a 230lb Kris Bryant to ever reach 13SB of his rookie season.
- If he ever cranks that Soulja Boy on the mound, I’ll watch that Yu (Darvish). 6IP, 14K. Hot Damn!
- All the Joe Musgrove hate. Bet you didn’t know he had a 5.13ERA & 4.40FIP in the second half. Oh, that’s not helping?
- You better watch out. Evan Longoria about to mess around and get 20 dingers.
- Cavan Biggio has looked respectable last 15 games w/3HR, .292AVG. 17BB, 15K.
- Nine innings. That means we can use nine pitchers. Yes, BoSox. Nine pitchers is a great strategy.
- Rich Hill was on a pitch count. 27. No, dummy. He injured his knee.
- Tony Gonsolin (back in the rotation?) gets the W. 3IP, 1ER, 4K.
- Ronald Acuna w/lovely combo meal(39HR/36SB). I don’t know how those tiny burgers will fill you up though.
- Ozzie Albies, Stop it, right this second (ever had a parent say that?). Three HR will do nothing but increase your value in 2020.
- Anthony Rendon just showing off for his future team in Minnesota (33HR).
- Too legit to quit! Juan Soto w/34HR, 12SB, .296AVG. Yep, first-rounder.
- Corbin, my man! 12th W is dynamite for Patrick Corbin.
- SCREEEECH! What you talkin’ bout, Willis? Justin Verlander loses? No, I refuse to believe this Chupacabra nonsense talk.
- Matt Olson treated J.V. as JV. How rude. 32 long balls are nice though.
- “What’s going on, why is everyone partying in the streets?” Homer Bailey beat Verlander!!! “Oh. It doesn’t work that…..nevermind.”
- Eugenio Suarez receives half of the silver medal (45HR).
- Kyle Lewis has a tater is each of his first three major-league games. Now get out there and SELL! SELL! SELL! in dynasty leagues.
- Have a great Friday the 13th. If you're very superstitious, the writing's on the wall. Also, lessons learned: Don't get sprayed by a skunk.
