Welcome to the August 28th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 27th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Fernando Tatis Jr. (13th shot of excellence) seems to be the Usain Bolt of baseball.
- Yes, we see you’re back Jake Fraley (first SB). Now Shock Me, make me feel better.
- Manny Machado likes his taters fully loaded. (Three makes 11 HR).
- We never forgot you. We just haven’t seen you around much Jose Marmolejos (three) (back-to-back HR games)
- Even though Shed Long Jr. is in a 6-for-50 rut, he gives a fourth SB and second HR. Did you start him? Read the fine print…it’s not a combo meal.
- This is why we can’t have anything nice, Garrett Richards. 0.2 IP, 6 ER.
- Sam Haggerty, batting .303 w/ 4 SB. 93.2 mph exit velo on FB/LD. Put him on your watch list. Currently just a D. Moore replacement.
- Pirates take their aggression out on Cardinals as they grab both games of doubleheader.
- Bryan Reynolds, you’re at the wrong door. You’re supposed to be at .300, not .200 (AVG).
- Why thank you Yadier Molina, I was just talking about how we love you for PT/AVG. This 413-foot HR warms my belly like a big plate of Arroz con Gandules and Tostones.
- Baseball is hard, but we expected Dylan Carlson to just jump up with the big boys? 1 HR, 1 SB, .196 AVG.
- Kwang-hyun Kim looked good (six IP, three K). I just wish he had a SwingStrike rate better than 8.4%.
- If a guy hits in the heart of a ferocious lineup, you’d want him, right? Why is A.J. Pollock only 67% rostered?
- Easy money. Clayton Kershaw threw 86 pitches for 6 IP, 4 K.
- Joey Bart comes to the Big Party & gets stuck at the piñata (30.8% K rate).
- Five! 434-foot Jam makes it five HR vs righties (.225 AVG) for Joc Pederson. Do not ask how he does vs southpaws.
- Omar Narvaez’s second HR is like that book of address stamps you get in the mail after donating to the charity. “Why did I do this?"
- There will be plenty of believers in 2021. Sonny Gray locks down fifth W. 24% K-BB is magical elixir.
- If you need a Adrain Houser demolished, call The Reds Wrecking Crew.
- Jesse Winker leaves behind a trail of bases. 8 HR, .333 AVG, and a wink that says, “I’ll see you in the sixth round next year.” Creepy.
- Nick Castellanos is a human jackhammer. 10th case of destruction.
- Eugenio Suarez doesn’t fear the reaper; his 6th shot of defiance coming versus Grimm himself.
- They once screamed “We want Freddy Peralta as a starter.” Now the cats have scattered. Fear not, his 42.3% K rate comes with a 1.70 FIP (4.32 ERA).
- Endgame
- Richard Rodriguez (two). He's got the role so fear not the 1 IP, 1 ER.
- Nik Turley (one).
- Kenley Jansen (eight).
- Taylor Williams (BS). 0.2 IP, 5 ER. Oh, Yoshi Hirano’s outing was clean. Time for a switch?
- Giovanny Gallegos in seventh?! Oh no! Don't get your undies in bunches. It was a seven-inning game.
- It's Friday! Yes, you've all waited for this day. However, don't quit on your goals, not even for one day. Keep your accomplishments going. Similarly, don't quit on your fantasy leagues. Regardless of your position, finish as best you can. Always!
