David Robertson has been rock solid for many years now. He doesn’t elicit any injury concerns and is coming off his first year with the White Sox where he anchored the bullpen with 34 saves. He had the eighth best K/9 in the league amongst qualified relief pitchers last year, and he doesn’t have to sacrifice control to get them. He posted a career best 1.85 BB/9 last year, with his previous best being a 2.44 figure, so let that wash over you.
Even if that regresses a bit, he’s still one of the top relievers in the game. His SIERA has been under 2 for two years in a row now. Robertson will turn 31 in April and is showing zero signs of slowing down. His fastball is still holding strong at 92 MPH. There is no reason to think that Robertson will finish 2016 as anything but a top ten reliever, but some draft rooms may still not be giving him respect since there are so many buzzy names in the top five.
