Today's Weather
The Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians will face a 40 percent or greater chance of precipitation for their series opener at Progressive Field, but the forecast improves by 10 p.m. ET. If the tarpaulin does come out, there might be a delay, but the chances of a postponement are rather slight.
The only other trouble spot in terms of weather will be the opener between the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs. Precipitation won't be an issue, but there will be a stiff wind blowing out at 14-17 mph to just right of straightaway center field.
DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers
Adam Plutko - P, CLE vs. KC ($6,900)
Plutko takes the ball for the homestanding Tribe, and he faces a favorable matchup against a Royals squad limping into town. Kansas City has won just 18 of the past 63 games on the road, and seven of the past 24 against a right-handed starting pitcher. In addition, the Royals are 1-10 in the past 11 starts by RHP Brad Keller, and 0-4 in his past four on the road, so Plutko faces a more than good chance of a victory at a mid-tier price.
CC Sabathia - P, NYY vs. TOR ($7,100)
Sabathia is another strong mid-tier salary pitcher working at home in a very favorable matchup. The Blue Jays enter this game just 9-27 in the past 36 road games against a left-handed starting pitcher, and 19-46 in the past 65 road games vs. LHP. In addition, they're 1-10 in the past 11 in Game 1 of a new series, and 0-6 in RHP Aaron Sanchez's past six outings. Look for Sabathia to pick up the win at home.
DraftKings DFS Infielders
James McCann - C, CHW at BOS ($4,300)
McCann has been on fire lately, and he has reached base safely in 11 consecutive outings. He has a tough matchup against LHP Eduardo Rodriguez, but if anyone can handle him, it's McCann. He is 14-for-44 (.318) with four doubles, two homers and five RBI with a .968 OPS vs. LHP.
Pete Alonso - 1B, NYM at PHI ($5,500)
Alonso smacked his 27th home run of the season Sunday, breaking a franchise record for a rookie previously held by Darryl Strawberry. Over the past week he is slashing .417/.548/1.042, going 10-for-24 with three doubles, four homers and right RBI. Strike while the iron is hot.
DJ LeMahieu - 2B/3B, NYY vs. TOR ($5,100)
LeMahieu is ripping it up this season with a .322/.370/.488 slash line with 10 homers and 51 RBI. Nine of those homers have come against right-handed pitching, and he will be facing the righty Sanchez at The Stadium in this one. Seven of his 10 homers have come at home, too. He is also 7-for-14 (.500) with three doubles, a homer, six RBI and a 1.462 OPS against Blue Jay pitching this season. You can also use LeMahieu at the hot corner at DraftKings.
Jose Ramirez - 3B, CLE vs. KC ($3,900)
Ramirez has struggled all season, but eventually the numbers are going to pick up. At this price, he is a steal with his power potential. Ramirez is also hitting .250 with six doubles, a triple and two homers with 18 RBI at home, and he is hitting just .171 with 11 RBI on the road.
Jean Segura - SS, PHI vs. NYM ($3,900)
Segura is a bargain at this price against LHP Steven Matz, who has struggled mightily on the road. He is slashing .300/.354/.633 with eight doubles, four homers and 11 RBI across 60 at-bats vs. LHP, while hitting .259 against righties.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Bryce Harper - OF, PHI vs. NYM ($4,500)
Harper is rather cheap facing Matz, who enters 2-5 with a 6.21 ERA with a .288 opponent batting average on the road. Harper is slashing .264/.354/.540 vs. LHP with six doubles, six homers and 18 RBI in 87 at-bats against southpaws, and he is hitting 35 points higher at home than on the road.
Mike Yastrzemski - OF, SF vs. COL ($3,800)
Carl Yastrzemski's grandson has started to pick up the pace in the power department lately, posting four home runs and eight RBI over the past 10 outings, with three of those bombs coming over the past seven days. He could be a cheap source of power, especially with a 9-12 mph wind blowing out to center field.
