Wow, what a slate last night! I did not have any Blue Jays stacks, but I hope you did! Toronto scored 28 runs, making the Cubs' 15-run explosion look mundane. I was on Arizona, who scored 10 runs as the third-highest scoring offense, and luckily had some Aaron Judge mixed in there, too.
Scores were high across the board, with some dominant pitching performances (which we expected with a lot of aces on the slate) and all that offense. A few picks from yesterday did really well like Carson Kelly, Willy Adames, and Braxton Garrett, while others (Giancarlo Stanton) did not. It's time to run it back for a big primetime Saturday slate with 10 games on the docket (only 9 games on FanDuel, since they excluded the second game of the White Sox-Guardians doubleheader.
As always, this article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Saturday's main slate locks at 7:05 EST on 7/22/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options, and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack! You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!
DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
If you like data, here are some projections for today's starting pitchers. Green is good for the pitcher, while red is bad!
Gerrit Cole @ BAL ($10,400 DK, $11,300 FD)
I don't see too many reasons to get cute today at the top of the salary scale. Cole is in great form and has the highest strikeout projection on the slate. I'd much rather pay up for him than Woodruff who has a less appealing match-up and I'm simply not paying over 10k on FanDuel for Kyle Wright, regardless of his elite match-up with the Angels.
Cole has been rolling right along and with the Yankees bats perking up yesterday, he should have proper run support tonight with Jordan Lyles being on the hill for the Orioles. I will take the strikeouts, the huge win equity, and the massive floor/ceiling combo that Cole presents in this spot and move on with my day!
Brady Singer vs. TBR ($7,600 DK, $8,300 FD)
This price on DK is nice and I think you have your cash game SP2 right here, look no further. Singer has been really interesting this season because he has raised his strikeout rate a bit while also continuing to keep the ball on the ground, which is his biggest strength. Walks have been the only thing that really concerns me a bit, but everything else looks good and this match-up is solid enough as Tampa is perfectly mediocre on offense. Singer has 15 or more DK points in four straight starts, and I think that's right about what I expect from him here if he can give us 5-6 solid innings and something like 4-6 strikeouts.
Max Meyer @ PIT ($6,100, $8,100 FD)
It's time to pick on the Pirates! The battling Buccos are my favorite team, but picking on them with pitchers has been very profitable lately (see Braxton Garrett). We are getting a solid discount on Meyer again on DK likely because he struggled a bit in his debut against the Phillies last week. But make no mistake, this is a really talented young pitcher who has flashed some solid strikeout potential in the minors. And pitching against the Pirates is basically like pitching against a AAA team in many ways. I'll take a shot on Meyer in tournaments for an extra $1500 savings off Singer, though I view Singer as safer for cash games.

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Brandon Lowe - 2B, TBR vs. Brady Singer ($4,300 DK, $2,900 FD)
I am well aware that I already recommended Singer, but Lowe's price is still far too cheap for a hitter of his caliber. He has great numbers against righties and he specifically profiles well against the hard sinker that Singer throws as his primary pitch. KC's bullpen behind Singer is bad, too, so we are not only targeting Lowe's at-bats against Singer here but probably 1-2 at-bats against the pen.
Matt Carpenter - 3B/OF, NYY vs. Jordan Lyles ($5,500 DK, $4,200 FD)
Yes, it is the year 2022 and Matt Carpenter has a .504 wOBA and a .491 ISO against RHP this season. Carp's first half with the Yankees has been something else and there's simply no one who follows baseball who could have predicted it. Paying this price for Carp still seems crazy to me, but that's kind of why I want to play him in a way, because I don't think that others will be willing to pony up the cash and Lyles has been considerably worse to lefties than righties this year. Camden Yards is playing much friendlier to lefties this season, too, since they moved the left field fences back.
Corey Seager - SS, TEX vs. James Kaprielian ($5,700 DK, $3,900 FD)
Seager's month of July has been impressive by any measure (.216 ISO vs. LHP this month), but the power we've seen (now up to 22 HR on the season) has been the biggest draw for DFS. He's very expensive to roster but should be well worth it today against Kap, who continues to be a young pitcher who hasn't yet figured it out yet this year. This stat blows my mind, but lefties are hitting the ball over 95 MPH off him a ridiculous 58% of the time. Vegas isn't giving these offenses enough credit today, I really like Texas (lefties in particular) in this match-up and I am definitely eying up some Oakland righties on the other side, too!
DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Chad Pinder - OF, OAK vs. Taylor Hearn ($2,000 DK, $2,400 FD)
How about a clean-up hitter who is riding a six-game hitting streak and who also has major power in his platoon splits for the minimum price on DraftKings? These prices on Pinder are just silly, and he's easily the best value on the slate for me against a lefty Hearn who is fly-ball prone and hittable. Pinder has been super solid of late for Oakland and brings a .241 ISO against LHP to the plate over the last month. I am firing him up in all formats and I think an Oakland stack is even in play here, too!
Daulton Varsho - C/OF, ARI vs. Anibal Sanchez ($3,600 DK, $2,700 FD)
Varsho still has C-eligibility on FanDuel, which is going to help with your roster flexibility over there. I love Arizona again tonight. They teed off on Corbin and the Nats bullpen last night for 10 runs, and now Washington is rolling out the corpse of Anibal Sanchez tonight to try to eat some innings. Sanchez hasn't been good in...five years? The Washington bullpen is one of my favorites to target with offenses, too, as they continue to trend down as the season goes along. Varsho had a big night last night when he went 3-4 with a HR and continues to show that he has some nice pop in that bat.
Andrew Benintendi - OF, KCR vs. Luis Patino ($4,300 DK, $2,600 FD)
We are sticking with the value theme in the outfield here, especially on FanDuel where Benny is even cheaper than Varsho by $100. All this guy does is hit, and while he doesn't have a lot of HR upside, you know you are getting a guy who is going to make contact, get on base, score some runs, and drive in some runs. He's the ultimate cash game play if you are looking for someone who is less likely than most of the field to take a zero. I like the Royals bats here a bit, considering that Patino looked rough in his first start and the Tampa bullpen has been unreliable.
DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks
Here are my top stacks for tonight (in the order in which I like them)
- New York Yankees (5.3 implied run total) vs. Jordan Lyles (5.01 xFIP)
- Arizona Diamondbacks (5.0 implied run total) vs. Anibal Sanchez (5.38 xFIP)
- Texas Rangers (4.1 implied run total) vs. James Kaprielian (5.97 xFIP)
