BALLER MOVE: Add in Dynasty Leagues
OWNED IN: 1% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Drew Smyly has had a lost 2018 season and may not even pitch this season. This is strictly for very deep keeper and dynasty folks, but Tuesday saw Smyly toss 23 pitches in a simulated game after he struck out all three batters he faced during his Low-A rehab appearance the week before.
The Cubbies may add him to the bullpen later, but his $10 million deal over two years speaks to a starting role for 2019. Considering that Smyly had a 3.11 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 2015 (and has a career 1.20 WHIP and 552 strikeouts in 570 1/3 innings), it is worth a roster spot to hold onto him in deeper dynasty formats.
