An exciting addition for the Braves, Ender Inciarte comes over from the Diamondbacks after he hit six homers and stole 21 bases while hitting .303 in 561 plate appearances in 2015.
Inciarte put the ball in play more last year, bringing his strikeout rate down from a healthy 11.9% to an improved 10.3% while also walking a shade less (5.6% to 4.6%). As of now he is penciled in as Atlanta’s everyday leadoff hitter which most might see as nothing but a growing opportunity for him, which is fair, but do realize that the reason Arizona benched him occasionally was because he hit .229 against lefties whereas he mashed righties with a .331 average.
Could some exposure therapy do him some good and help him improve? Sure, hopefully he’s working with coaches and brings that average up against lefties, but do keep it in mind in daily transaction leagues. There are also some rumblings that Atlanta could still flip him before the season starts. For now, he is Atlanta's leadoff man and could provide sneaky value on draft day.
