Welcome back, RotoBallers! After another successful week of UCL slates during the week, EPL Matchday 7 continues Saturday, and I have another full breakdown for you all. The slate of games has a little bit of a different schedule this week. There are only three games total Saturday instead of four, but FanDuel will still roll with a three-game main slate. That slate will lock at 8:30am ET. This breakdown will be focused on the late slate that locks at 11:00am ET, and I will explain why coming up. EPL DFS Lineup Picks - Overview
Like I mentioned at the top, I am making this breakdown for the late slate instead of main for a few reasons. First, with the early lock, some (most) of the country might not even be awake early enough on a Saturday to check lineups for that early game. Second, the game is pretty easy to analyze on your own. Manchester City (-335) are enormous favorites as they travel to take on Sheffield United. If you're going to play the main slate, add City's attacker and cheap Sheffield defenders to your player pool.
Burnley vs Chelsea
Chelsea (-195) will be the first of the significantly favored teams on this late slate. They just netted four goals against Krasnodar in UCL play during the week, and they have been scoring a ton of goals this season. Burnley, on the other hand, look like they have taken several steps back this year. They remain winless in the league through six games. Chelsea should dominate all facets of this match. The goal total over/under is 2.5,3.
Liverpool vs West Ham
We have another large favorite on this slate Saturday. Liverpool (-290) host West Ham in what could be another one-sided game. Liverpool have not been as dominant as they were last year, but that is extremely difficult to repeat. Additionally, they have been dealing with some injuries among their backline, but they have their first choice GK back to help shore things up. Like Chelsea, Liverpool will likely dominate much of this game. The goal total over/under in this game is a tad higher at 3,3.5 which is likely due to West Ham being more capable of adding a goal to the total than Burnley.
FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders
It should not take much convincing to play Mo Salah ($22) on Saturday. He has six goals in league play already this year, and he is coming off a PK against Midtjylland on Tuesday. Salah is also creating 2.83 chances per game and adding some shots on goal as well which both help strengthen his floor. Not to mention that he is the most likely anytime scorer on the slate at -143.
Sadio Mane ($21) is a fair play as well, but I lead towards Salah purely for his upside right now. I do not think it is necessary to play both on this slate though. Liverpool have not been blowing opponents out the water this year, and West Ham's defense has been solid through six games with 1.33 goals allowed per game.
Timo Werner ($21) is the perfect way to start your Chelsea exposure. All attackers from both teams, including Werner, struggled when Chelsea faced Manchester United last weekend. However, Werner hit the back of the net twice two weeks ago against Southampton and added another goal this week against Krasnodar. After a short drought to begin the season, Werner seems to be heating up. He is the most likely scorer in this game at -110, and he is facing a leaky Burnley defense. Werner will be licking his chops to get at this backline that allows 1.8 goals per game.
For secondary Chelsea pieces, it all comes down to how they line up. Christian Pulisic ($17) should get a start in this game and will be an elite secondary piece to pair with Werner/Salah. I would love for Hakim Ziyech ($15) to get a start here, but he likely will not after playing a full game on Wednesday. This is a great matchup for Mason Mount ($16), but he's pretty expensive considering his floor games this year.
If either Callum Hudson-Odoi ($12) or Tammy Abraham ($14) can get into Chelsea's lineup on Saturday, they will be great mid-tier options with plenty of goal upside in this matchup. Like I said, my Chelsea player pool will be largely dictated by who Lampard decides to put out there. For value on this slate, I am looking right to Thiago ($10) if he is fit and in the starting lineup. Jurgen Klopp said that he is doing more in training, but Liverpool is in no rush to bring him back during this busy period of games. This is a good matchup for him and this is crazy-cheap exposure to Liverpool's attacking unit.
Declan Rice ($12) and Ashley Westwood ($12) are both good contrarian plays if you don't want to load your attacking positions with only Chelsea/Liverpool guys.
FanDuel DFS Defenders
The reason for using Thiago and Rice/Westwood, would be to pay up for some of the absolute stud defenders we have on this slate.
This is a great matchup for all of our expensive Liverpool attacking defenders like Andrew Robertson ($14) and Trent Alexander-Arnold ($15). Both will be involved in Liverpool's attack early and often. TAA has had most of his massive games at Anfield in the past, and his two highest-scoring games this year have also come at home. He's a great play here. However, Robertson has been better fantasy-wise this season and will make for a great play too.
Ben Chilwell ($15) has been superb for Chelsea so far this year. This is a tremendous matchup for him against a weak Burnley side. He has shown us his 30+ point upside already this year, and he has that kind of potential on Saturday. The more salary-friendly play is Reece James ($11), though. He is underpriced on this slate with attacking upside and his ability to collect good defensive stats.
Targeting some Burnley defenders for cheap is also smart. They have a good matchup against a Chelsea team that will force plenty of defensive action. James Tarkowski ($15) is not going to be a good use of salary with TAA, Robertson, and Chilwell right there who have the same kind of floor and far more upside. However, I will take Kevin Long ($12) and Chris Taylor ($9) for those prices in this matchup for some much-needed value.
Joe Gomez ($9) can be used for value too, and with Fabinho ($8) also injured, we could see a super cheat Liverpool defender getting a start on Saturday. Check my Twitter (@vdray5) for updates Saturday.
FanDuel DFS Goalkeepers
Edouard Mendy ($11) is my preferred goalkeeper on this slate when you take price into account. He has made four starts for Chelsea since replacing Kepa, and he has not allowed a single goal in those four games. He has a great matchup against Burnley who are tied for last place in the league with only three goals scored this year. Mendy looks like a good bet for both bonuses.
If you have the money, you can go for Alisson ($14). He does present some more upside with WHU likely forcing him to make more saves than Burnley will force our of Mendy. He's a large home favorite, so a win bonus should be coming. The risk comes with using an extra $3 to target a GK facing a better attacking group.
