Welcome back, RotoBallers! Matchday 35 comes to an end with the final game on Monday. It's just a typical Monday single-game slate, but it will start another week of mid-week games in the EPL. I will be breaking down the two games in full for you here. Keep reading this breakdown for my DFS soccer picks on RotoBaller and see how to have success on Tuesday's slate.
The very large majority of my DFS content will be EPL or UCL-related, however, there is more soccer than just what is being played in England. In this article, I will be providing you with my English Premier League daily fantasy soccer lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/11/21 for the slate that locks at 1:00 pm ET. EPL DFS Lineup Picks - Overview
Manchester United vs Leicester City
With three games left to play, both of these teams find themselves sitting very nicely on the table with great shots at UCL qualification for next season. Manchester United (+140) are the slight home favorite on the money line, but it should be a fairly even game that could go either way. United are in better form between the two having not lost a league game since January 27th, but Leicester will always put up a good challenge. The goal total over/under is 2.5.
Southampton vs Crystal Palace
Neither of these sides will be very pleased with how this season went. Both are headed towards bottom-half finishes this year but remain safe from relegation. Southampton (+110) is favored at home even having not won an EPL game since April 4th. In that span, they've scored only two goals and gave up eight. Palace are not in good form either, but they did pick up a 2-0 win over Sheffield this weekend. This should be another fairly even game Monday. The goal total over/under is 2.5.
FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders
Kelechi Iheanacho ($20) scored against last game for Leicester as he continues to be the hottest goal scorer in the league. His goal against Newcastle was his tenth in eight games. His matchup on Monday is not ideal, but Manchester United's defense at home has not been unpenetrable. They only have two clean sheets at home dating back into 2020. Iheanacho has been productive fantasy-wise outside of his goals too with 2.0 chances created and 2.13 shots on goal per game in his last eight games.
I like Wilfred Ndidi ($11) as a cheap piece in this game environment. Manchester United force a good deal of defensive peripherals. In fact, they allow blocks, tackles, and interceptions at a rate that is top three in the league. Ndidi is affordable and has a nice floor in this game with peripherals.
Here's to hoping Danny Ings ($17) passes his late fitness test Tuesday because I really want to get some exposure to him in my lineups in this matchup. Facing Crystal Palace has been a disaster matchup for goal scorers in past seasons, but that trend has not continued this season. They're allowing 1.71 goals per game away from home, and Ings has game-high anytime scoring odds at -125. He's been hurt on and off all season, but he was in good form with two goals in three games right prior to this most recent injury. James Ward-Prowse ($18) has been doing a lot of work for Southampton with Ings out. He's getting slightly expensive here but will be another good option on Tuesday regardless of whether or not Ings is available.
Some of my favorite GPP value plays on this slate also come from Southampton. I have no issue loading up 2-3 attackers against Palace's defense in this game, so Takumi Minamino ($14) and Theo Walcott ($9) are in my player pool.
Eberechi Eze ($14) was in my article over the weekend and went off with a great 38.6 fantasy point game. He's been playing well in his last three games for Palace and has a solid matchup in this one. Southampton's defense doesn't give up a ton of goals at home and Palace struggle to score away from home. However, Eze has something to prove right now and can do well in this matchup.
If Jeffrey Schlupp ($7) gets another start, he's worth a look as a deep punt again.
FanDuel DFS Defenders
Kyle Walker-Peters ($12) is my favorite Southampton defender to get. He's facing a Crystal Palace team that allows the most tackles in the league which also happens to be his best defensive stat. He gets tackles at a better rate than any other starter on the team and should be able to feast on Monday. With a few other defensive stats, KWP can score well into the teens. Plus, he can create a chance here and there which adds to his upside.
Mohammed Salisu ($10) has also been awesome for Southampton lately fantasy-wise. He's scored over 20 fantasy points in his last two games. Along with tackles, Palace also allow other defensive stats at a pretty average rate, so Salisu has a good chance to continue his productive run of games.
It has been a long time since Alex Telles ($7) saw the field for Manchester United in a league game. The big signing has turned into a disappointment this season. However, you can't normally find this kind of attacking upside for $7 if he starts over Shaw.
Manchester United give up a lot of all of the defensive stats. They allow blocks, tackles, and interceptions all at a top three rate in the league. I think Caglar Soyuncu ($9) is in a nice matchup due to those defensive stats, but Daniel Amartey ($6) is a great value pick if he starts.
FanDuel DFS Goalkeepers
I am not a fan of any of these four GKs on paper. Alex McCarthy ($13) might have a decent matchup, but you can't trust Southampton's defense. Additionally, he's a bit overpriced here.
David de Gea ($11) is an okay play for the price. However, Leicester is scoring a lot of goals right now and United could definitely lose this game. His floor is very low, but he also has a nice ceiling if United come to play on Tuesday. There's some definite risk associated with playing him here.
If I'm going to risk a GK from this game, I'd rather save $2 in doing so and get Kasper Schmeichel ($9). He should have a decent floor with some save points from United and has a great ceiling. Leicester are definitely good enough to win this game to nil which would result in a Schmeichel ceiling game.
I'll only be using Vicente Guaita ($7) if Danny Ings doesn't play or if I want to fit in more studs.
