Welcome to the beginning of another fun month of baseball. There's a full slate with games starting at 1:10 ET, which means there is Early Only, All Day, and Main Slate contests for your choosing. Plenty of aces on tap (Felix Hernandez, Max Scherzer, Jon Lester, Jacob deGrom) so value bats will be key.
As for Vegas insights, the heaviest moneyline favorites tonight are the Cubs (-180), Rockies (-175), Mets (-195), and the Nationals (-200). The contests with the highest over/unders are the Astros at Diamondbacks (8.5), Red Sox at Orioles (9.5), Cardinals at Brewers (9), and the bell of the ball, Reds at Rockies (11).
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 6/1/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on FanDuel.
DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel
Rockies versus John Lamb
You don't need to be told the Rockies are a good play at home. That said, ownership will be lower than normal thanks to the abundance of aces. The Rockies have 22 HR versus LHP (2nd in MLB) with a .801 OPS (5th) and have been on fire lately. The Rockies also have a .854 OPS at home, the best in the National League. I like Charlie Blackmon, DJ LeMahieu, Nolan Arenado, and Ryan Raburn in this contest.
Rays versus Danny Duffy
The Rays have been a sneaky good offense, posting the most home runs in all of baseball. Their 21 HR and .809 OPS versus LHP are third and fourth best in baseball, respectively. The key here is they come at a relative discount for a favorable matchup, including Brandon Guyer, Steven Souza Jr., and Evan Longoria.
Also Consider: Cardinals versus Zach Davies
DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel
Max Scherzer (SP, WAS) - $10,700
Mad Max is coming off a rough outing (7 IP, 5 ER) vs St. Louis, but keep in mind four of those came off one pitch. He has owned the Phillies, going 4-0 with a 1.88 ERA since 2015. The Phillies will throw out Adam Morgan, who has struggled to the tune of a 6.67 ERA. Scherzer is a solid play in all formats.
Jaime Garcia (SP, STL) - $8,500
Garcia looked strong in his last outing and the Brewers have a .239 average vs LHP (23rd) and have struck out 126 times, sixth most in baseball. The Brewers will toss out Zach Davies, and Garcia is considered a strong favorite in Vegas (-150).
Michael Fulmer (SP, DET) - $7,600
Fulmer has looked to be a good return for the Tigers in the Yoenis Cespedes trade. He was hitting 97 mph in the seventh inning of his last start and has a favorable matchup here. The Angels have struggled versus RHP this year, and while they don't strike out often, Fulmer should have a great chance at a win here.
Also Consider: Jacob deGrom (SP, NYM) - $10,100 ; Robbie Ray (SP, ARI) - $6,700
DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel
Catcher (C)
Wilson Ramos (C, WAS) - $3,100
Ramos has crushed left-handed pitching this year, posting a .944 OPS in 30 AB. Opponent Adam Morgan has struggled and this is a hitter-friendly park.
First Base (1B)
Anthony Rizzo (1B, CHC) - $3,800
How is Rizzo this cheap? He posted consecutive double-digit games before last night's outing versus lefty Scott Kazmir. Against righties such as Mike Bolsinger, Rizzo has a .965 OPS including nine of his 11 home runs.
Also Consider: Miguel Cabrera (1B, DET) - $4,000
Second Base (2B)
Brian Dozier (2B, MIN) - $3,100
It seems a lot of the Dozier hate has calmed down. He has averaged 13 points in his last five contests and has crushed lefties (.350/.435/.550).
Shortstop (SS)
Eduardo Nunez (SS, MIN) - $3,300
Nunez gets no love in the fantasy circles but he's been a stud for the Twins. He has a six-game hitting streak alive and has two 30-point contests in his last five games. Rolling with the Twins DP combo today.
Third Base (3B)
Jung Ho Kang (3B, PIT) - $3,500
Kang has destroyed lefties this season. He has a ridiculous 1.130 OPS versus them thanks to three HR in 23 AB. It's an excellent option at a fair price that will likely have low ownership.
DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel
George Springer (OF, HOU) - $3,800
Springer has become a freak since moving to the leadoff role, hitting over .500 since the transition. He has a .933 OPS versus LHP and makes for an excellent play in all formats.
Nomar Maraza (OF, TEX) - $3,400
When you were 21 were you getting ready for a party or posting a .942 OPS versus right-handed pitching? Nomar Mazara has been a joy to watch and gets a tasty matchup versus homer-prone Trevor Bauer.
Ryan Raburn (OF, COL) - $3,200
Lefty-righty play at Coors. This is required in 50/50 contests.
Also Consider: Stephen Piscotty (OF, STL) - $3,800 and Mallex Smith (OF, ATL) - $2,600
