This game is likely to be a blowout, so we want to lean on the Navy side pretty heavily.

All Captain options are safe plays and belong in FLEX if you can't fit them as captain.
Malcolm Perry - Navy - DK $16,200, FD $17,500
While he hasn’t had a huge performance in a few weeks, Perry is the leader of this Navy offense and one of the more prolific runners in the nation. The Navy Midshipmen run a triple-option offense, so Perry is eventually a running back that gets 3-7 pass attempts a game. He’s been a better thrower this season, but still derives his upside from running. He leads the nation with 906 rushing yards and nine touchdowns through just six games. Perry can easily score five times against this UConn defense and be the captain you must have.
Jamal Carothers - Navy - DK $14,400, FD $15,000
Carothers broke out last game with 154 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries. He’s the better running back than Nelson Smith and we’re going to see him over 100 yards once again. I certainly prefer Perry, but Carothers could run for another few touchdowns and be the better captain. I just think Perry focuses on getting his after a couple rough weeks.
FanDuel, DraftKings DFS Safe Plays
Nelson Smith - Navy - DK $6,200 FD, $12,000
I don’t think Smith will be a very popular captain and this Navy offense is always random with the touchdowns. Smith could easily see a couple of scores in this game and over 20 touches. This UConn defense is butter and I expect Navy to score 30+ points. I’d take all three of these guys over any UConn player at captain.
Cameron Ross - UConn - DK $8,000, FD $9,000
With Navy expected to beat UConn by 25+ points, Cameron Ross is my favorite play on this side. They’ll be throwing all game and Ross has nine catches in back to back games. The new QB Jack Zergiotis has honed in on Ross and he should see another double-digit targets. It’s tough to trust anyone in this offense, but the volume for Ross should certainly be there.
Mychal Cooper - Navy - DK $2,800, FD $7,000
You’re going to have to play somebody cheap and Mychal Cooper is where I’m landing in a lot of spots. Navy doesn’t pass much, but Cooper is the clear number one when they do. He leads the team in receptions and yards, but is still looking for the end zone. This match-up could be the day he does and we have to play someone cheap anyway.
DraftKings DFS Contrarian Plays
Jack Zergiotis - UConn - DK $8,400, FD $11,000
Zergiotis and UConn are only projected to score about 13 points in this game, but we almost have to roster one or two of these guys. Zergiotis is affordable and he will pay off value if he can throw for just one touchdown and run for 20 to 30 yards. This is an ugly showdown slate to say the least.
Kevin Mensah / Art Thompkins - UConn - DK $8,800 / $7,200, FD $13,000 / $10,000
It’s hard to trust a running back that splits time and is a 27-point underdog. Navy has a solid rush defense and I don’t think UConn combines for 100 yards on the ground here. Mensah could certainly score a short touchdown, but I’d rather go elsewhere.
