FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (8/24/20): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Monday brings two more exciting second-round matchups featuring Colorado-Dallas along with the New York Islanders facing off against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. The Flyers-Islanders game has only a 5 goal total, while the Avalanche-Stars game is slightly higher at 5.5.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/24/20. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @awlenn. Let's go!!

DFS Forwards to Consider

Nathan MacKinnon - C, COL vs. DAL (FD - $8,800, DK - $8,500)

Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon factored in all three Avalanche goals despite losing 5-3 to the Stars. MacKinnon tallied two goals and added an assist. He also fired six shots on Dallas netminder Anton Khudobin. The Colorado center now leads the league in postseason points with six goals and ten assists in nine games. MacKinnon is always a great pick for your DFS lineup.

Anthony Beauvillier - LW, NYI vs. PHI (FD - $6,200, DK - $4,800)

New York Islanders Anthony Beauvillier has had a strong postseason campaign so far. Beauvillier has six goals and three assists in nine games. Three of his six goals have been game-winning. The Sorel-Tracy, Quebec native had two goals against Washington in Game 5 to eliminate them from postseason play.

Others To Consider:

Nazem Kadri should be added to DFS lineups. The Avalanche forward has been a significant contributor through nine postseason games. He ranks fourth in NHL playoff points with six goals and six assists. He added an assist in a losing effort against Dallas on Saturday.

Kadri's teammate, Mikko Rantanen, has been a consistent contributor to his team.  He has three goals and eight assists in nine postseason games.

Two streaky players who could catch fire for Dallas are Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin. Seguin scored his first 2020 postseason goal while Benn had three assists in a Saturday win for Dallas over Colorado.

Veteran Dallas Forward Joe Pavelski has been a bright spot for the Dallas Stars. Through ten Stars postseason games, Pavelski has six goals and two assists.

Other forwards worth looking into include Gabriel Landeskog, Jakub Voracek, Josh Bailey, Alexander Radulov, Kevin Hayes.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Cale Makar - D, COL vs. DAL (FD - $5,400, DK - $6,000)

Like teammate Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar's play has been outstanding throughout the playoffs. The scary thing is Makar is still considered a rookie. Surprisingly Makar didn't have any points on Saturday against Dallas. However, Makar logged the most amount of ice time for his team, with 27:26 minutes played. Look for Makar to bounce back in Game 2 versus Dallas.

Miro Heiskanen - D, DAL vs. CGY (FD - $5,600, DK - $5,700)

Hesiskananen has been excellent for the Stars through ten playoff games. The Dallas defenseman leads all defensemen in points with three goals and ten assists. He is often paired with Jamie Oleksiak and will see time on Dallas's second power-play unit.

Other choices for Monday may include John Klingberg, Ryan Pulock, Sam Girard, Travis Sanheim, Ivan Provorov.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Semyon Varlamov - G, NYI vs. PHI (FD - $8,600, DK - $7,800)

Veteran netminder Semyon Varlamov's outstanding play is a big reason why the Islanders knocked off the Capitals in five games. Varmalov has started all nine games for the Islanders with a record of seven wins and just two losses. Even more impressive is his goals-against average of 1.67.

Flyer's goalie Carter Hart should be considered for your DFS lineup. Hart has been solid all postseason long for the Flyers.
