FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (9/1/20): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Philadelphia and Vancouver could be heading home after Tuesday's playoff action. Games begin at 4 pm EST as the New York Islanders face off against the Philadelphia Flyers. The second game features the Vancouver Canucks as they try and stave off elimination against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel for September 1st, 2020. The picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. For Tuesday, FanDuel, and DraftKings are not offering the split game option. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @awlenn. Let's go!!

DFS Forwards to Consider

Mark Stone - RW, VGK vs. VAN (FD - $7,400, DK - $6,600)

Vegas forward Mark Stone has been a massive contributor to his team's impressive playoff run. Stone is tied with teammate Shea Theodore for the team lead in points with 14 (6 goals-8 assists). Having linemates like  Max Pacioretty and William Karlsson have helped to elevate Stones' play. Pacioretty had two goals and an assist while Karlsson added a goal in Game 4. This line should continue to be dominant, and it might be worth adding and stacking this line to your DFS lineup.

Elias Pettersson- C, VGK vs.VAN (FD - $7,400, DK - $7,100)

The NHL is loaded with talented players under the age of 25. Vancouver centerman Ellias Pettersson is most certainly on the list. His team is down to Vegas 3-1, but it hasn't stopped Pettersson from contributing to his Canucks team on the scoreboard. Pettersson has four points ( 2 goals and 2 assists) in four games against Vegas. The budding NHL phenom ranks second in the NHL with 17 points ( 6 goals - 11 assists) and has 33 shots on goal this postseason.

Others To Consider:

If one is considering stacking their DFS lineup with Vegas players, Jonathan Marchessault may be worth adding. Marchessault sees ice time on the Knights' first powerplay unit playing left wing.

Reilly Smith has been a big part of the Knights playoff success. The second line winger has four goals and seven assists in twelve Vegas postseason games.

For whatever reason, Philadelphia's top players have had trouble burying the biscuit this postseason. Despite only scoring three goals, Kevin Hayes has been relatively consistent elsewhere with three goals and ten assists in 13 Flyers games.

Other forwards worth looking into include Alex Tuch, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Anthony Beauvillier, J.T. Miller, Josh Bailey, Brock Boeser, Jakub Voracek.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Shea Theodore - D, VGK vs. VAN (FD - $6,500, DK - $6,400)

Vegas defenseman Shea Theodore should be an automatic pick for NHL DFS when Vegas is playing. Theodore has at least a point in the Knight's last six games. To make the case even more vital in picking Theodore, he also has a point in nine of twelve Vegas postseason games.

Theodore has a blistering shot from the point and leads his team in shots on goal with 42. He has also been known to block a shot or two as he ranks fifth on his team with 17 blocked.  As most NHL DraftKings contestants know, each blocked shot in a game counts for + 1.5 points.

Quinn Hughes - D, VGK vs. VAN (FD - $5,600, DK - $5,000)

Rookie defenceman Quinn Hughes had a rough Game 4 against Vegas. Despite having a +/- rating of -2, Hughes managed to add a couple of assists. He is averaging 23:24 of ice time a game, which is tops amongst his Canucks teammates. Canucks head coach Travis Green will rely on Hughes to help Vancouver avoid a second-round elimination.

Other choices for Monday may include Ryan Pulock, Ivan Provorov, Nate Schmidt, Travis Sanheim, Alexander Edler.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Seymon Varmalov - G, NYI vs. PHI (FD - $8,300,  DK- $7,700)

Islanders netminder Seymon Varmalov continues to be a rock in between the pipes during the 2020 postseason. While the Islanders have had a superior playoff run, Varmalov has recorded two shutouts with nine wins and two losses. His goals-against average of 1.69 is tops in the playoffs.  Varmalov has proven he is a reliable pick for DFS lineups.

One would assume the three-time Stanley Cup champion Marc Andre Fleury will be starting for Vegas in Game 5. Fleury is 3-0 this postseason for Vegas and can be counted on to play well in big games.
