FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (8/1/20): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

It's Saturday, so brace yourselves for another stacked MLB slate with 12 games on the docket. It's a tough day for starting pitchers, with a shortage of bankable arms for you to trust in your lineup. We're going to focus on two teams to stack in favorable matchups to act as the core of your roster. We'll also include a pair of hitters benefitting from Corrs Field.

It's been great to watch baseball on a nightly basis again, but it will be even better to do a bat flip after winning some cash in DFS. Let's delve deeper into Saturday's slate to find out which players will help you win a cash game and build your bankroll or take down a GPP for a big pay-day. Every player on this list is on one of my own FanDuel teams.

In this article, I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 8/1/2020. Be sure to also check out all the MLB player news including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like DraftKings, and other sports too.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Tyler Glasnow - TB @ BAL ($9,800)

Glasnow is the most expensive pitcher on this slate, but he's a strong option against the Orioles. Despite being limited to 72 pitches in his season debut, Glasnow still produced 36 FanDuel points because of his nine strikeouts and one earned run in four innings. We can reasonably project an increase to about 80-85 pitches for Glasnow here as he continues to ramp up his workload. The Rays have a huge pitching advantage here, as the Orioles are throwing out lefty Wade LeBlanc, so Glasnow has a good chance at the win as a -230 favorite. Even in the bandbox that is Camden Yards, Glasnow is the safest pitcher on Saturday's slate.

Zack Greinke - HOU @ LAA ($9,000)

Greinke looks to bounce-back from a poor debut that saw him last only three innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits, while walking and striking out two Mariners' hitters. Greinke and the Astros are -160 favorites against Griffin Canning and the Astros. Simply put, this is a bet on a veteran pitcher bouncing back from a poor outing against an Angels' team that won't have Mike Trout in the lineup. Perhaps Greinke will have a lower ownership percentage due to his poor start against Seattle. He's worth a look if you're not comfortable spending a high price on a pitch-count limited Glasnow.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Trevor Story - SS, SD @ COL ($4,300)

Story gets to tee off against lefty Joey Lucchesi in the friendly confines of Coors Field. Lucchesi struggled in his first start, allowing two earned runs in 3.2 innings of work. Story has punished southpaws to the tune of a .454 career wOBA at home. He's swinging a hot bat of late, hitting 7-16 (.438) with three home runs in his last 19 plate appearances. This is a game with an absurd 12.5 total, so we can expect another slugfest against the red-hot Padres' bats. Story is absolutely worth paying up for in this one.

Jose Abreu - 1B, CWS @ KC ($3,000)

Abreu takes on Ronald Bolaños, a reliever who the Royals are using to open this game. Bolaños will likely only last three or four innings in this one. This is a team that will be without two of their best relievers - Trevor Rosenthal and Greg Holland have pitched in three of the last four days, so they're unavailable. This is simply a bad spot for the Royals to have a bullpen day, so we need to take advantage and roster an under-priced Abreu.

Garrett Hampson - 2B, SD @ COL ($3,000)

Hampson has played sparingly so far this season, but he has a favorable matchup here against Lucchesi. Hampson hit better against lefties last year, posting a .320 wOBA against them at home, compared to a .252 wOBA against righties. I'm confident that he'll be in the lineup for this one, making him a nice cheap and under-owned option in a potential slugfest.

Yandy Diaz - 3B, TB @ BAL ($2,700)

Diaz takes on mediocre lefty Wade LeBlanc in an exploitable matchup at Camden Yards. Yandy slashed .311/.393/.583 against southpaws last year. The Rays have hit him either leadoff or third in the order, so he's in a prime position for production. Diaz is showing great plate discipline in the early going with a 30.8 BB% that ranks third in MLB. This is a great spot for Yandy facing a lefty in a hitter's park.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Wil Myers - OF, SD @ COL ($3,500)

Myers has a nice matchup against lefty Kyle Freeland at Coors Field. He hits better against lefties, slashing .233/.365/.512 against them last season. Myers has also been swinging a hot bat so far, as he's currently on a five-game hitting streak that includes one home run and one stolen base. This is a reasonable price for a power hitter in a game with a 12.5 total, so we have to lock in Myers here.

Eloy Jimenez - OF, CHW @ KC ($3,300)

Eloy joins teammate Abreu in our White Sox stack against the depleted Royals' bullpen. Coming into Friday's game, the sophomore slugger had three barrels in only eight batted balls, so he's hitting the ball hard. It's also encouraging to see that he has gone two consecutive games without a strikeout, after posting a 30.8 K% as a rookie. Let's fire up Eloy!

Luis Robert - OF, CHW @ KC ($2,900)

Robert completes the White Sox stack of sluggers against mediocre relievers. He's been crushing the baseball, averaging 99.4 MPH exit velocity, including a max of 115.8 MPH, which ranks third in MLB, behind Giancarlo Stanton and Pete Alonso. That's incredible for a rookie with such limited action. Robert has such a cheap price that we can't pass him up here.

Jose Martinez - OF, TB @ BAL ($2,900)

Yet another Ray to stack in this terrific matchup. Martinez absolutely obliterated lefties last season, slashing .329/.397/.600. He's hit anywhere from second to fifth in the Rays' lineup, so he's in an ideal position for run production. Martinez has been a solid platoon bat with two multi-hit games in his five starts this year. He should be a low-owned player to help you strike gold in a GPP.
