Seven of the eight games today are on the main slate. Only the Yankees/Twins matinee is left off the board. Only two of the 14 pitchers are priced in five figures. Are either of them worth paying for? I'm not paying five figures for 60 Kershaw pitches or road Alcantara, so we can pay up for some bats here. FanDuel is the frog and I am the scalpel. Let's get started.
The only rain chance is north of the border, but it's not a threat for anything more than a minor delay if anything. It will be warm and humid in Washington, but the rest of the weather is mild, even in Dallas.
I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 9/13/2021. FanDuel DFS Pitchers
Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:
Adam Wainwright – STL at NYM ($9,800)
A red-hot Waino is heading to a pitcher's park. What more could you want? Wainwright has a 1.92 ERA over his last ten starts and has compiled an 8-1 record in that span. The Mets offense has been better of late, but there's really only one guy in the entire lineup that scares me. More on that later. The only real complaint about Wainwright is the pedestrian strikeout numbers. How many guys is Kershaw going to ring up in 60 pitches? How many runs will Yu Darvish give up with his strikeouts? Wainwright has far less questions than the other 13 pitchers.
Potential Alternate Play
A.J. Alexy – TEX vs. HOU ($6,700)
FanDuel still has Spencer Howard listed as the starter, but most other sites have Alexy getting the start. I sure hope he does. Alexy has 11 strikeouts in 11 major league innings without allowing a run. He has only allowed two hits in those 11 innings! The Angels and Rockies at sea level aren't setting any offensive records anytime soon, but the lack of hits is very promising. The new Globe Life Park has proven to be a great pitcher's haven. Alexy is nice for a tournament dart if you want to load up on bats. Just make sure he's starting first.

FanDuel DFS Infielders
Christian Walker – 1B, ARI at LAD ($2,400)
The list of guys who have had success against Clayton Kershaw is a very short one. The super-cheap Walker is on it. Forget his season stats for a minute. Walker is 7-for-19 with four homers and seven RBI in his career off of Kershaw. If you want to fit an expensive pitcher in there, Walker is the answer. I have no issues running him with Kershaw in tournaments if you want to be different.
Marcus Semien – 2B, TOR vs. TB ($4,400)
The Blue Jays offense went dormant for much of August, but they are back with a vengeance in September. Semien is hitting .341 with five homers and 13 RBI this month. He even tacked on another stolen base. Semien's next homer will be his 40th of the season. He has a good shot at that against Yarbrough.
Nolan Arenado – 3B, STL at NYM ($3,500)
Arenado still isn't hitting for the average that we are accustomed to, but he's starting to get the power numbers up where we expect them to be. He roughed up the Reds over the weekend with homers in each of the last two games and has five long balls already in September. He's only hitting .250 on the month, but 3B is a fairly week position on this truncated slate. If you're not willing to pay up for Bregman, Arenado is the next best option.
Francisco Lindor – SS, NYM vs. STL ($3,200)
I don't make it a point to go after Adam Wainwright, but this is one place where I'll make an exception. This price is out of whack for a guy who has six homers already this month. I don't care who the opponent is. Lindor is on possibly the best stretch of his career and his price has barely budged on FanDuel. We need to take advantage of this and hope he's the guy that can crack Waino.
FanDuel DFS Outfielders
Juan Soto – OF, WAS vs. MIA ($4,400)
Home Alcantara and road Alcantara are two very different creatures. Alcantara's ERA is over two runs higher on the road than at home. It's not shocking. We all know how great of a pitcher's park Miami is. Not only is Soto hitting better than anyone alive lately – he has a .424 average with seven homers and 13 RBI already in September – but he has torched Alcantara in his career too. Soto is 8-for-19 with a pair of homers, five runs scored, a steal, and three RBI in his career against Sandy. That $4,400 tag doesn't look so crazy after all.
Teoscar Hernandez – OF, TOR vs. TB ($4,200)
Teoscar is also having a great September, and is a nice piece to your lineup if you can swing both him and Soto. Hernandez is hitting .378 with four homers, two steals, and a staggering 13 RBI in September already. Four of his six career hits off of Ryan Yarbrough have left the yard. That makes Teoscar a very nice GPP option tonight.
Lane Thomas – OF, WAS vs. MIA ($2,300)
Thomas has done well leading off for the Nationals lately. He is hitting .300 with three homers, nine RBI, and a steal so far in September. If you are going to run Juan Soto, a mini stack with one of the guys he'll be driving in is not the worst idea I've heard. Road Alcantara + Marlins bullpen could pay off if you want to run a small Nats stack in a GPP tournament.
