Hitter Streamers for 6/25 - Shallow Leagues
Adam Duvall (OF, MIA) - 52% rostered
Matchup: vs. LHP Jon Lester
Duvall is tied for sixth in baseball with 52 RBI. This alone doesn't make him a must-start fantasy option as he is striking out a ton (31.5%) and only batting .215, but the bold RBI total is definitely a place to start with the veteran outfielder. Tonight he gets a matchup versus Jon Lester who has allowed 1.44 HR/9 this season. Lester has been awful against right-handed batters as he's allowing a .307 batting average to righties compared to .186 versus lefties. Duvall is far from a must-start option, but given the matchup, he is in a smash-spot on Friday.
Max Stassi (C, LAA) - 39% rostered
Matchup: @ RHP Andrew Kittredge
Stassi is a great catching streamer against a Rays bullpen game, but this pick is more to highlight how good Stassi has been at fantasy's weakest position. The Angels' backstop missed most of May but has been on a tear since returning on June 1 as he's batting .373 this month. On the season, he's batting .325 which is the best among all catchers with at least 90 PA. He's getting on base 40 percent of the time and is currently rocking a career-high .563 slugging percentage. Stream Stassi this weekend, then keep him on your roster as he's easily a top-10 catcher to own in fantasy.
Myles Straw (OF, HOU) - 21% rostered
Matchup: @ RHP Wily Peralta
Straw has been playing like a man possessed, yet can't seem to gain any traction in fantasy batting eighth for a loaded Houston lineup. Since June 4, Straw is slashing .365/.432/.508 with two homers, 15 runs scored, and four steals in 18 games. He's got a .405 wOBA and excellent plate-discipline metrics as he's got eight walks to just 12 strikeouts. He'll face Wily Peralta tonight who's pitched just 6 1/3 innings this season. After Peralta is a bad Tigers bullpen that ranks third-worst with a 5.18 bullpen ERA.
Hitter Streamers for 6/25 - Deeper Leagues
Tony Kemp (2B/OF, OAK) - 13% rostered
Matchup: at RHP Johnny Cueto
Kemp is currently riding a 13-game on-base streak and is the logical choice to take over the leadoff role for Oakland as Mark Canha (hip) left yesterday's game and is scheduled for an MRI Friday. Kemp has more walks (28) than strikeouts (25) this season as he's sporting a .408 on-base percentage. San Francisco is known as a good pitcher's park, but in Kemp's case, the large outfield plays to his advantage as the lefty-swinger will take aim at "Triples Ally" in right-center field at Oracle Park.
Hunter Renfroe (OF, BOS) - 20% rostered
Matchup: @ RHP Domingo German
The Yankees/Red Sox rivalry will renew with fans in Fenway for the first time since 2019. These two rivals seem to always play long, high-scoring Friday-night affairs and tonight should be no different with Martin Perez facing Domingo German. For this exercise, we care about German who's allowed 1.83 HR/9 and has a sky-high 44.4 percent fly-ball rate. Renfroe, on the other hand, is sporting a career-high 21 percent line-drive rate giving him a chance to go yard in this one.
Harold Ramirez (OF, CLE) - 4% rostered
Matchup: @ LHP Danny Coulombe
The "other" Ramirez for Cleveland has been smashing baseballs this season and is in position to do damage against a Twins bullpen game that will be started by second-year lefty Danny Coulombe. Ramirez has a 50 percent hard-hit rate this season and is averaging an impressive 92.1 MPH average exit velocity. He's barrelling up the ball 9.1 percent of the time which makes him a home run candidate versus the Twins bullpen.
Pitcher Streamers for 6/25 - All Leagues
Griffin Canning (SP, LAA) - 11% rostered
Matchup: at TBR Andrew Kittredge
Why are we streaming a pitcher with a 5.07 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP? The answer, as usual, is swinging strikes. Swinging strike rate is one of the most predictive metrics for future success and Canning excels at earning whiffs despite his unflattering stat line. The Angels' righty has a healthy 14.7 percent swinging-strike rate which ranks 13th among all pitchers with at least 50 innings. Tampa Bay has the second-highest strikeout rate in the Majors as they whiff a whopping 27 percent of the time. Canning doesn't deserve to have an ERA over five as his 4.37 SIERA and 4.13 xERA imply he should see some positive regression moving forward. No better time for that to start than in a good pitcher's park against a K-happy lineup.
