Fantasy Basketball - Dynasty Rundown for Week 9

Welcome to RotoBaller's weekly dynasty league rundown! Dynasty leagues are becoming more and more popular, and we're here to keep you ahead of the game.

Each week, we'll touch on topics and players that may not necessarily be relevant in single-year formats, but they can make a splash in keeper leagues.

With that being said, let's look at the dynasty rundown for Week 9.

Guards

Jalen Brunson, Dallas Mavericks

The Mavs lost star guard/forward Luka Doncic (ankle) for a couple of weeks, and Brunson is averaging 15.5 points, 9.5 dimes and 6.5 boards the last two games. The 23-year-old Brunson should continue running the offense in the interim and should be scooped up universally for the short term.

Elfrid Payton, New York Knicks

The 25-year-old journeyman has stabilized the offense the last three games at the point. Payton is a talented distributor, but his poor shooting percentage has always plagued him. He's averaging 13.3 points, 6.7 assists and five boards per game over the last three games. Payton has no one to look over his shoulder for, and he should be picked up to see if he can stick.

Landry Shamet, Los Angeles Clippers

The 22-year-old got the start at shooting guard Saturday and posted 11 points and four boards in 21 minutes. Sixth man Lou Williams (calf) has missed time due to a calf injury, and Shamet stands to benefit in the short term. Shamet is shooting a career-low 38.7 percent from three-point land, but a consistent period of playing time should help him find his stroke.

Forwards

Derrick Jones Jr., Miami Heat

It has been a tumultuous season for Jones, who has had numerous nagging injuries limit him to 13 games this year. He clawed his way back into nearly 30 minutes a game. Jones is averaging 12.5 points, four rebounds, 1.8 assists and 2.5 steals per game over the last four games. The Heat turned down several trade offers for Jones last season and has a lot of faith invested in him. He should have every chance to remain in the mix, and he's still just 22 with a decent ceiling.

Frank Kaminsky, Phoenix Suns

Adding Kaminsky is a double-edged sword. He has averaged 21 points over the last three games with center Aron Baynes on a minutes limit. However, center Deandre Ayton is coming back from his suspension, which might suppress Kaminsky's output a bit. Kaminsky is still worth the speculative add for points and a few boards.

Centers

Bismack Biyombo, Charlotte Hornets

The 27-year-old never lived up to being the seventh pick in 2011, but he has these spurts of productivity. He's on one of those over the last five games with 10.2 points, 10.2 boards and 0.6 blocks per game. He'll remain in the rotation with forward PJ Washington (finger) out with a broken finger, and possibly beyond that. Biyombo is a sneaky grab for boards and blocks with a few points sprinkled in.

Jusuf Nurkic, Portland Trail Blazers

Nurkic is coming off of a nasty, broken leg suffered late last season, and he said he's about 60 percent recovered. He's hoping to return in February, but he probably won't be back to his top form this season. The progress in his rehab has started to get fantasy owners plucking him off of waivers. He'll likely be on a minutes restriction when he returns, but with the shortage of quality centers in fantasy, he's worth stashing if he's hovering on waivers.
