Freddie Freeman’s first three years in the league (2011-2013) saw him seemingly establish a safe 20 home run floor, with 2013 looking like a huge growth year as he also posted a .319 average to go with 23 bombs and a career high 109 RBIs.
Now that average isn’t likely to come again (he had a .371 BABIP that season, whereas his norm looks about 30 points lower), but the power is another story. Freeman’s 2015 was derailed by a wrist injury, yet he still had 18 home runs in only 481 plate appearances.
Let’s touch on that wrist though. On January 19th he took his second round of dry swings and tee work with zero pain in his wrist. He says he’s all systems go, but be aware that his wrist was still bothering him well after the season ended and it could flare up over the course of the season.
His 2015 peripherals were in line with his career, he looks to be a .280 hitter, but I believe there is 25 HR potential. The kicker is that the Braves’ lineup around him is atrocious, which could really hinder those run/RBI totals. His current ADP of 81 is A-OK by me, but do draft a serviceable 1B to spell him in case that wrist becomes a problem.
