Freddy Peralta (SP, MIL) - Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 0% of leagues

ANALYSIS: Rookie pitcher Freddy Peralta was called up for a spot start on Sunday after Chase Anderson hit the 10-day DL with an illness. He dazzled in his debut performance, picking up the win at Coors field, while racking up 13 strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings versus allowing only one hit, two walks, zero runs. Making it even more impressive, a whopping 90 of the 98 pitches he threw today were fastballs.

Prior to getting called up, Peralta had already amassed five victories and 46 strikeouts in 34 ⅔ Triple-A innings this season, though suspect walk rates continued to follow him. His current 11.5% mark from the minors was within his usual 11-13% range that he’s held since moving past Class-A ball, but perhaps the strikeout rates of 30% or higher will be able to outshine the control issues.

I think all deep leaguers would do well to keep him in mind for the Brew Crew, and consider adding him to your rosters. Peralta is currently owned in zero percent of Yahoo leagues, as he was just added to the player pool today, and could very well remain in the rotation.
