Well, well, now it's starting to make sense! Corey Dickerson is off to Tampa Bay and Colorado did not get an outfielder in return, so Gerardo Parra now gets to step into a clear starting role with the Rockies.
Parra's 2015 was a tale of two halves, as the first one, in Milwaukee, saw him hit .328 with nine homers and nine steals. This was capped off by an insane July where he hit .435, which was hot enough for the Orioles to trade for him. It was known that regression was coming, but Baltimore was simply renting him. Unfortunately for them, he came down to earth and only hit .237 in the final two months of the season.
So Parra is the third outfielder alongside Carlos Gonzalez and Charlie Blackmon for the Rockies. Sure, Baltimore is a hitter’s park, but there’s no place like Coors. Parra now has legitimate 15/15 upside thanks to having a clear path to roughly 600 plate appearances for Colorado. He might take a little bit to adjust to his new digs, but if you're rounding out your OF or want a bat to platoon in when the Rockies are at home, Parra's a solid choice.
