Welcome back to another installment of the hitting streamers column! This edition is for September 7 through September 13.
As will be the case every week, I will offer a couple of worthy streamers for each position (catcher, corner infield, middle infield, outfield) based on the number of games the players have for the upcoming week, favorable matchups, or injury replacements. You may not always see well-known names in this column; my goal is to identify hitters who I think have the best chance to do well for the following week, not just to identify names you may recognize who are available.
This column will highlight players rostered in roughly fewer than 50% of Yahoo leagues who could present as nice streaming options for the upcoming week. This will be the first week of the fantasy playoffs for some of you and the beginning of the home stretch for others, so this week will be vastly important. Each decision will have a large impact on your fantasy success, so let's go find some streamers to help for the playoffs!
Editor's Note: Our incredible team of writers received five total writing awards and 13 award nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association, tops in the industry! Behind the Plate
Isiah Kiner-Falefa (C/3B/SS, TEX) - 49% rostered
Isiah Kiner-Falefa has been in this column several times this season for two reasons: he has hit well all season and has unique player eligibility. He has hit particularly well over the last seven days, batting .400 with a stolen base (yes, a catcher who will steal you bases). This week the Rangers will have eight matchups. They will have four favorable matchups in one game at the Mariners and three against the Angels and then four unknown matchups against a solid A's rotation that has not played lately. If you are in a pinch at catcher heading into this week, Kiner-Falefa is the best option to stream.
Also Consider: Jacob Stallings (C, PIT) 9% rostered, Yan Gomes (C, WAS) 4% rostered
At the Corners
Brandon Belt (1B/OF, SF) - 31% rostered
The entire Giants offense has come to life lately, and Brandon Belt has not been excluded. The veteran has hit .400 over the last seven days. The Giants get seven pretty good matchups overall this week with a home game against the Diamondbacks, two home games against the Mariners, and four games at the Padres. Belt only has one RBI over the past seven days, but he should have plenty of opportunities to get more this week if the Giants continue to hit, making him a worthwhile streamer.
Jeimer Candelario (1B/3B, DET) - 15% rostered
The Tigers have not been the most exciting team this season, from a fantasy perspective or otherwise. However, Jeimer Candelario has hit well all season and has been mashing the baseball lately. He has hit .400 with two home runs and five RBI over the last seven days. Couple his performance with the Tigers' eight-game schedule and this makes Candelario an obvious streaming target for the week.
Also Consider: Joey Votto (1B, CIN) 44% rostered, Colin Moran (1B/3B, PIT) 22% rostered
Up the Middle
Brad Miller (2B/3B/OF, STL) - 31% rostered
Brad Miller has never been much of a fantasy asset, but that has definitely changed this season. Miller has been producing for the Cardinals and is hitting .333 with three HR and eight RBI over the last seven days. The Cardinals don't have the most fantastic matchups this week (at Cubs, Twins, Tigers, Reds), but they aren't awful either, and they get eight games. Given how he has hit this season, Miller is a viable streaming option for this week and potentially the rest of the season.
Willy Adames (SS, TB) - 29% rostered
I included Willy Adames in my column last week as a streaming option and he has delivered. Adames hit a ridiculous .458 with two HR and five RBI over the last seven days, and his matchups this week should allow him to continue to hit. He'll get two games at the Nationals (4.96 team ERA) and four games against the Red Sox (6.08 team ERA). These matchups set Adames up to be a top streamer this week.
Also Consider: Jonathan Schoop (2B, DET) 45% rostered, Nick Madrigal (2B/SS, CHW) 30% rostered, Willi Castro (3B/SS, DET) 1% rostered
In the Outfield
Austin Riley (3B/OF, ATL) - 39% rostered
Fantasy players will remember the massive ups and downs Austin Riley experienced last season, and while this season has been more down, his last seven days have definitely been up. Riley has been displaying his power lately, batting .385 with two HR and eight RBI. The Braves get decent matchups this week with three games against the Marlins and four games at the Nationals. Riley has the potential to provide some pop to fantasy players' lineups this week, making him a worthwhile streamer.
Alex Dickerson (OF, SF) - 17% rostered
As I mentioned before, the Giants have been hitting well as a team lately. However, Alex Dickerson has been on an absolute tear. The outfielder has hit .440 with four HR and nine RBI over the past seven days, including a three-HR game. The Giants have seven decent matchups and Dickerson has been too hot to not consider as a streamer.
Also Consider: Jason Heyward (OF, CHC) 19% rostered, Jurickson Profar (2B/OF, SD) 14% rostered, Victor Reyes (OF, DET) 14% rostered, Kevin Kiermaier (OF, TB) 4% rostered
